Are shell reamers still in use?

Quite a few year ago I was asked to clean out a closed down ship repair shop and I got to take whatever I wanted except power equipment. It ended up being a huge haul.
These shell reamers were scattered all over the place so I crated them up and brought them home. I've got additional but here is a representation. Largest seems to be 2-1/4".

Secondly there were a few adjustable reamers the largest is 2-7/32 to 2-3/4 but it's missing one of the cutters. Are these cutters still available?

Lastly what was the beam type circle cutter for? it's around 8" long and the center arm is about 6". Collar is around 3".

The beam cutter is used for cutting holes and disks in and from thin rigid materials. Wood up through brass would be targets. It is possible to cut a hole deeper into thick material but then the interior must be hollowed out with something like a chisel. One that size would require pretty slow speed and very rigid machine.

Yes shell readers are still in use.
The issue is that it is very hard to sell them to a full on buisness that may need them as they want the assurance or accuracy in their final product.
And the larger sizes are rairly needed by the hobbiest.

What are you looking to do with them?

I'd use shell reamers. Building off road trucks we use larger sizes... And we don't need half of a ten thou.

I've been taught that adjustable reamers are kind of the crescent wrench of reamers. You can make them work but a dedicated reamer size will always be better. I have a full set of adjustable reamers for just in case.

Beam cutters can be scary. Lol
