Are socket pucks worth it?

Have any of you used these? I just discovered them today. I have seen them called socket pucks or puck wrenches or grip wrenches. Rolson 46402 8-in-1 Pocket Socket Puck by Rolson https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OOTQOTO/?tag=atomicindus08-20
I can probably get a really good deal on a set at the local flea market but I can’t dream up a unique scenario for them yet.

One of those gimmicky kinda things sears sells (just to name a place). I dont find them useful unless it were an emergency really.

The main problem I have with them is that in almost every instance where you'd need something like it, you wouldn't actually be able to use it because of clearance issues.

That’s what I figured, the pair I saw were neon green and it screamed Walmart at me. I could see it being useful if you didn’t have your sockets on rails and couldn’t eyeball you’re target size I guess.

Looks like something Sears would put out just before Christmas or Fathers day, to sell to the unknowing gift givers.

I've had one for like 3 years now, never used it, but womt throw it away because I tell myself that it would be handy as mentioned to use as a quick size checker, to see what size sockets you'll need then run and grab them. I need to just chuck it lol. Think I got mine at HF

Throw it on the floor and wack it see how long it gets kicked around before it gets thrown away. I do this anytime I come across a golf ball or something similar in the shop.

My kids bought me one for Christmas several years ago. I keep it only because they gave it to me as it is completely worthless.

I bought one a few years ago, and I haven't found a use for it yet.

Even tried keeping it in the car as some sort of 'emergency backup' but even in an emergency I would feel funny attempting to use it, assuming it would even work.

My vote is to pass it up.

Harbor Freight sells them. Something you buy cheap and put in your emergency tool bag and think "Gosh, I hope I never have to use that." Could put a twisting bar in the middle hole, but probably only rated for 10 ft/#

They have their place. Sort of like dog bone wrenches which are real handy when working with nuts and bolts on wood projects.

Paperweights. Seriously, if you work a desk job, having one of those as a paperweight gives you a mediocre socket set, which is better than no socket set. And it keeps paper from blowing around. :D

Shouldn't they come in pairs, so one can hold the bolt from turning while the other is used to tighten the nut?

Mine has a ratchet built into the middle. Kinda cool just for that.

Using it has not been a need yet. But I can see it as a desk jockey quick fix tool.

I have one of these little bastards and it comes in pretty handy inside the engine compartment installing headlights and grill trim.

A socket puck and finger/palm ratchet are different tools.

Pot metal metrinch type sockets encased in plastic with a ratchet in the middle is absurd. But one day the shelf tag may come off it to try to make it work.

No rush....
