I save the empty spray bottles that once held things like interior cleaner, spray auto detailer and the like. I clean them and repurpose them to non-food uses like spot spraying insecticide, weed killer and the like.

I like Kwazar bottles. They spray on both pump and release strokes, making it much easier to use.

Those blue yellow Zep sprayers leak regularly. The old silver and blue heavy duty I liked better yet those didn't last either. I have a house brand from Orchard Supply that is still going.

I've been using the pump type pressurized ones lately like this from Lowes. I prefer all plastic types because one of my mixes is a salt based brine for weed killing and the salt corrodes the metal;

only made an account to post.

I have had my hands on just about every spray bottle out there for general "cheap" use Zep bottles from home depot (the blue yellow ones) generally can last any where between 3 weeks and 2 months from what I have seen with storing the chemical/cleaner in the bottle over long periods of time and with consistent use, if you are looking for a cheap bottle the zep bottles are probably your best bet but expect them to only last a month or less depending on how harsh of a chemical you use.

Here in Canada and parts of the USA there's a brand called "Pro Pump & Spray" developed by a company called "FSB Distribution" they develop specialty products for automotive painting by the looks of it I have had a few of their products in my hand and they work okay, the biggest thing that differs them from other products is they have a large approved chemical list for each version of the spray bottle so if you need coverage on a specific chemical it claims it covers it, I primarily used their standard bottles for general cleaning and they worked okay but never had one long enough to tell you how long they last.

I recently purchased one that is specifically designed for use with M.E.K (Methyl Ethel keystone) an extremely aggressive cleaning solvent when I start testing ill get back to you when it fails.

They also provide replacement seals as these spray bottles are expensive, the one I bought for MEK was a special order that was about 85$ CAD through KMSTools.

just an update:

So its been about 6 months give or take since I started using this bottle and it hasn't failed yet, new seals for it is about 25$ 65$ (25$ is the cost for the standard pump spray bottle not the MEK rated one), I ended up buying a seal kit just to make sure I had it for when it failed.

pretty impressed with it so far -- the solvent resistant label protector that it comes with didn't really hold up though, best to get multiple of these or use a different one.

additionally I haven't strictly only been using MEK in it, I have used both gun wash (different brands) and specific thinner types within it from time to time mostly from Sherwin (Reducer 15/69/58) and I haven't had any leaking seal issues so far.

at this point I wouldn't say its paid its self off yet probably looking at about a year before that's the case, but, so far pretty happy with the purchase.

as a side note it hasn't had any traumatic drops yet as far as I know (few people in my shop like to borrow it from time to time) so its hard to gauge how it will fair when it gets a decent amount of wear and tare on top of just general abuse from dropping at height.

will come back in probably another 6 months to update again.

I’ve had very good luck with the Sureshot line of Sprayers from Milwaukee sprayer and the Sprayers by the Vapor brand. These get charged with up to 200psi of air from your air compressor and then work like a typical spray can. The Vapor one does a strong thin concentrated stream. The Sureshot has an adjustable tip for everything from a very concentrated stream to a very fine mist.
Thats a hell of a air compressor to put out 200 psi.

Final update

okay so the bottle finally started leaking on day #347 -- bought 2x new seals and another bottle seals cost about 65$ each, and the bottle has gone up about 30$ since last year probably because inflation is so bad atm (it was a 110$) through KMSTOOLS. (holds 60oz)

FSB PUMP SPRAY

original bottle will have been roughly .23$ a per day for the cost (original cost 83$)
if the new seal kit lasts about the same length of time your looking at about .17$ a day.
new bottle cost with increase for 2024 put it about .36$ a day about a 63% increase in cost year over year for the entire bottle (keep in mind high inflation rates).

Bottle Costs: 110$ (2024)
estimate of replacements: 1
replacement cycle: once a year
Replacement Cost: 65$ for seals
total yearly cost per sprayer: 65-110$
cost per day: .17$

NONAME (IMPACT)

So Granger has a product from the company "IMPACT" bottle costs roughly 10$ after shipping and is your standard no real known brand name label spray bottle that you can buy bottles and heads separately if needed for replacements generally only lasts 2~ weeks with heavy chemicals such as MEK, only holds 32oz.

Bottle Costs: 10$
estimate of replacements: 26 a year
Replacement cycle: every 14 days
Replacement Cost: 5$ (replacement head)
total yearly cost per sprayer: 130$
cost per day: .35$

ZEPP (HOME DEPOT)

better general use chemical bottle from home depot, the blue and yellow one, can last as long as a month sometimes longer from my experience with MEK like products (hot solvents) cannot replace parts need to replace entire bottle, holds 32oz.

Bottle Costs: 6$
estimate of replacements: 12 a year
replacement cycle: every 28 days
Replacement Cost: 6$ (got to replace entire bottle)
total yearly cost per sprayer: 72$
cost per day: .21$

Conclusion

As you can see really the # that matters is the cost per day (IMO) when it comes to the business side of things, there are other Pump and Spray brand products out there that may be just as good and may even be cheaper but I have personally never used them maybe someone may want to put the #s on this thread at some point.

hopefully this info is useful for anyone fighting with their bosses over why they shouldn't buy garbage spray bottles that you burn through extremely fast and will give you the details you need to explain why they should consider buying the more expensive one.

and a final FYI, this will probably be the las time on this forum so if you need to contact me check out my profile ill add some other contact methods for the future.
