I didn't even know there were different types of sockets, ie designed for pins or rings.

Do I need to get different sockets designed to fit on a 3/8 square nose ring?

That's not what this is about, it's about the swivel design part. Pinned ones are weaker than the pinless, generally speaking.

Yep Franz is right. This is about how the hex part of the socket is made to swivel within the body. The square broach for the drive is the same either way.

I don't understand how they can offer that set without a 1/2" socket...

I bought that set last week. The 3/8 universal is indeed pinless.

Missing 1/2 socket is:

Not sure why I have to go to a 3rd party vendor to buy a Craftsman product, that ships from Sears, when they can't put it in their own site. Nice sockets and a good price though.

Thanks for doing the leg (err, I guess finger?) work. I looked previously for it on Sears' website but feel fortunate I didn't put my fist through my monitor.

No problem. My OCD wasn't real excited about skipping that one in the middle of a set either, haha.

Anyone know the coo on these? They came today, and it doesnt say anywhere.

The craftsman professional use (aka Industrial) should all be stamped USA. Are they are marked Craftsman Industrial? Did you get the specific sets marked "professional use"? Because most of the regular Craftsman stuff is now overseas.

If not then what are they stamped with?

Ok, after looking more carefully they are marked usa very small written perpendicular to the other writing, so i didnt see it at first. These are stamped craftsman industrial. Also the 3/8 universal that came in this set is pinless.

Pretty sure all pinless impact universal sockets from Craftsman are Armstrong made, at least the USA ones. They also make Matco pinless or did.
