I've had little to no problems with mastercraft wrenches. I think all I've returned in the last couple years is an 8mm open end that opened up and got a new one free w no questions.

I know most if not all of their ratcheting wrenches are gearwrench, not sure about the standard wrenches, but they are good enough quality for a home shop most definitely.

Nice, yah they seem to have good reviews too. I just picked up 2 sets, might give one to a friend. Thanks for the feedback.

I bought a set of both metric and imperial at least 10 years ago. At 70% off. They have been solid with no issues and very nice chrome.
Assuming they are still made the same I recommend them for the home or road box.

I hit those with hammers for nearly 10 years, they're good.
Awesome lol.

Nice, seems like their hand tools or at least their wrenches are good quality or good enough, specially at this price point. I wonder if they still use the same supplier.

CanTire periodically changes the branding, packaging, number of pieces in the set, supplier, pricing, etc. so there can be a bit of an ebb and flow to it. But in general - and specifically at this point in time - they’ve been pretty good at using their buying power to offer pretty good product for a pretty good price. You can easily spend more and get less. And you have to spend quite a bit more to get even a bit better. Particularly for the long pattern chrome wrenches. Other things like hammers, maybe less so.

True. Are these long pattern though? It says that they're longer than standard wrenches under features but no mention of long pattern anywhere.

I've never had a problem with Mastercraft wrenches. The first new wrench set I ever had was one of their cheap sets and you could tell. But they worked are part of my junk yard tool box now.

Just picked them up, wish they were a bit longer but they still seem nice. I'm probably going to grab a Maximum set too which are long pattern

“long” is a relative term, and one each brand defines for itself…

I tend to define “long” relative to the old Craftsman raised panels. For no real reason other than that they are so common, and that general size was very standard for a long time.

I referred to the Mastercrafts as long both because of that, but also because Mastercraft had a shorter pattern with a satin finish. I think those may be phased out???

I don’t think anyone other than CTC can say for sure who the supplier is. Someone commented when those sets were moved from Maximum to Mastercraft branding that it was because of them aligning each brand with a supplier, but I’m not convinced - pliers definitely have a different supplier than wrenches, for instance. I don’t know that it matters, whether Stanley, Apex/Gearwrench, or other, supply a specific item, they are built to a CTC spec and carry a CTC warranty, and need to be judged on those merits.

They always had Mastercraft branding but for the better stuff it was either Mastercraft maximum or professional. I forget which one is the latest. In either case the wrenches usually look the same but the sockets and ratchets change once in a while and the pliers even more often.
