Are these pliers useful or useless?

^ NO idea who made those in that photo - it's too fuzzy.
Mine were made by Proamerica. They private-label them for a number of other companies.

How are these? I have the cheapy HF versions of these and use them more than I thought I would. The pivot on the smallest size is always seized and I've used heat/lube with no good results. I know these are warranty, but I'd rather just buy a good set, especially if they are made in USA and the I know Proamerica ones are.

I have never seen these, dumb question, do you grip a hose with the tips or the circle part?
They come in several "diameters" for a variety of hoses/spark plug boots....

Some? Are at the odd ball angle you need (those of us Ford Owners know) to overcome the design placement of hosing...(there are a couple that are extra long with the oddball angle, as well)

One wants to grip the hose in the pliers (round part) NEAR to but NOT ON the barb...then using a twist/rocking motion GENTLY pull hose off..without damaging the (infernal) plastic barbs that FoMoCo has so thoughtfully placed in a totally unreachable location...(yes, you have to pull the cab off the truck to change the cooling line to the turbo)....

As stated, it is BEST practice to work around the ID of the hose on the barb with a pick FIRST...provided you can get within a country mile of the fitting with the pick.... LOL..

I have the Knipex shown, and also a Lisle. These aren't long, probably 7-8", but they're very useful to twist hoses to break them free if you plan to reuse them. It's a shame that Knipex doesn't make a three-piece set, or any other sizes, but they just seem to "march to the beat of their own drummer" like Koken does.
