I would suggest digging down to at least get below the sod line and use a hollow 8" block to get from frost line to grade, then use the block you listed as the top block. It is easier to level when you have more than the few inches this block provides, and the foundation will be stronger the deeper you can make it.

To answer your question, this block will do just fine.

The "lightweight" Blocks are probably meant only as decorative edging. Get a real concrete block to put the shed on.

Most people around here that get heavy sheds, they will eith frame out with 2x6's a little larger than the perimeter dimensions of the shed base, fill it with crushed stone about 3/4" in size, compact it, then have the shed set on that.

My shed is setting on about a foot of crushed stone only that was leveled out and not even tamped. That was 8 years ago and it hasn't move one bit from settling anywhere.

Should be Concrete not lightweight

That is concrete. That's a load bearing concrete masonry unit meeting the requirements of ASTM C90 and has maximum density of 105PCF.

It would be good for support of a shed foundation constructed out of pressure treated lumber.

However, I would NOT use them way this guy is going to. If it were me I'd build a horizontal frame out of pressure treated 6x6 at least two courses high. Then I'd fill the frame with compacted crusher-run topped with compacted sand. Then I place these lightweight concrete masonry units as pavers inside the frame. And voilà - a concrete slab on grade for a small shed.

I remember when building our garage the block layer said when you order block, get the light ones. I said "the light colored ones?" He said yes. I ordered concrete block. He was wanting the light weight ones. Man what a complainer. I've got 10x the foundation I need to support just walls and roof though.
