I recently bought this USA made Craftsman jigsaw for $8. It works well, but it didn't come with any blades, and all the stores I've checked have several different types. I downloaded the manual for the saw, but it doesn't show the blade type, so it doesn't help.

So, do these look like the right kind of blades for this chuck? I'm asking because after I rip the package open I doubt I'll be able to return it.

Blades are Swiss made, BTW.

Looks very similar to the Craftsman jig saw I have except mine only has one blade holding screw nto two. Mine uses those types of saw blades. With the side screw loose the top of the blade should fit in about 3/4's of the blue colored part. The screw then clamps it in. If it doesn't fit in far enough the screw won't be bearing against the side of the blade.

These were the correct blades.

I've never owned a jigsaw before, so I was just testing it out cutting some 2x4s. The locking mechanism doesn't hold the blade very solidly, so it makes it sort of difficult to get a straight cut. But, normally I would cut a 2x4 with my circular saw, so it's probably not even a good test.

That jig looks like a Skil, but it will do minor stuff to make things easier on you. Once you get a good idea how to use it and how much it's needed you could step up. My jig for the past 10 yrs. has been a DeWalt I paid around $130.00 for. It will cut wood/metal/plastic ect. with proper blades and will cut straight w/o bogging down. Have fun with your N2U jig.

jig saws are really under rated tools IMHO... you can cut lots of stuff with them, plate steel for instance. poor mans torch or plasma..... :pimpflash

Do Skil saws come with a big "CRAFTSMAN" label on them? :lol_hitti

The part number starts with 315. According to my google research, that means this saw was made by either Ryobi or Diehl Manufacturing Co. It varies depending on the age of the saw, but I don't know if this one is new enough to be a guaranteed Ryobi version. From what I've read, it seems Ryobi acquired Diehl at some point.

Jig saws are more suited for thinner material where you are cutting things other then a straight line.

I still have my old as dirt single speed B&D I used to cut for fender flares not long ago...
