I am moving into a new house with a double car garage.. I think it's time that I replace my craftsman non ball bearing tool chest... It has severed me well but I want something bigger... something where I don't have to ever upgrade.

The problem is I don't know or have ever seen the "professional" tool chest/carts in real life.. sears is as close as I have gotten to seeing ones that are $1000...

I am checking my local craigslist and since a LOT of you hav really nice tool chests that cost as much as a car I figured I'd ask the pros. Also can you tell me if they are asking too much, if it's a great deal or to just pass.... Again, I'm not that familar when it comes to high end tool chests.

Matco from 2002: $3500 Seems like the best bang for the buck or is it since it's 10 years old?

I love that it's yellow, price seems to be good and it appears to be HUGE...
Any cons to this one?

Another Matco: $5000

That one just looks bad *** to me, but for 5g's it better be... I don't think I would ever need anything honestly if I got that... Its huge and has a s/s top.
Good price?

Last Matco: $4600

This one stands up rather than horizontal.

Snap-On: $3500 OBO
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/tls/2804803397.html
It's green and has a s/s top.

Snap-On: $2000

But this one is the smallest...

Just figured out of those, I think I like the Matco's better.. I have some of their tools and the quality seems really nice, same with Snap-On as usual...

Thanks,
-Nigel

I like the $4600 matco. I'm 6' 10" tall and I dont want to have to bend down to get everything I need. Wide AND Tall that's my motto.

I was shopping used ones also, ended up going with the "56 Montezuma, I love them. I use a Lista at work, my Monte is just as good, better in some ways. And way cheaper.

Both Matcos are nice, the SO posted are lower line models that dont' directly compare to the Matco models. When it is all said and done, Matco boxes have not changed much in 15 or so years. They change the series and the trim offering, but the basic box stays about the same. I would say shop around for a while and see what is out there for deals.
