are they the same proto and mac?

i got to lookin at proto and mac tool boxes and i saw that they were quite the same, check out these pics, the dimensions are the same, the shape, the lock position, only major difference are the casters, and the fact that proto and mac are both owned by stanley works

I think they are the same box, yes, at least it looks that way!

Check and compare the specifications - load capacity per drawer, shipping weight, gauge of the metal etc... It would not surprise me if they were the same or if the MAC unit is the same but with better casters and better drawer slides.

im pretty sure theyre the same its just that mac tools are aimed towards automotive techs. (and other transportation fields) while proto is aimed more towards the industrial and manufacturing field. as to the price difference between the two i have no idea.

was the $7600 price tag on the mac just for the bottom box or was it a combo deal. from the pic it looks like there may be another one on top.
the price could also be high cause of the decals. they are plastic(made with oil) so mac had to "increase its price to stay in business"

I'm actually pretty sure they are in fact not the same, take a real close look at all the details, including drawer size for each, handles, wheels, very different in fact.

Most likely not, but I'd bet Proto has a version of the Mac box
