Are you brand loyal or prefer tools for certain tasks

Boy this is tough, and I am wrestling with this right now.

I try to do sets but I buy a lot of stuff at estate sales, etc. I had made all nice old craftsman sets for wrenches but will replace those over time as I put together truck brand sets.

For pliers, cutters, Etc I buy good American brands of whatever I get a good deal on.

I've found that I'm loyal to a certain type of tool, but not tools in general.

Occasionally there is a one-off situation. For example, I have many models of Channellock (brand, not style) pliers, but their 317's worked well until I bought a pair of Knipex 26 12 200 when Lowe's was clearing them out. These are my new favorites.

The only true loyalty I have is logistic-based and that is the Milwaukee M12 battery platform. I did a lot of research before leaving DeWalt's 18V NiCads for the M12 and am still very pleased. I've always had Ryobi 18V as backups.

I guess there's something to be said for the Ryobi stuff if it's been a reliable backup for all these years.

I buy the tools I need to do a job.
Sometimes that stuff is from MetalNerd, sometimes Schwaben, sometimes Craftsman, sometimes Milwaukee...you get the idea.
I try to buy the best value for the tool I need at the time.
Sometimes my choices are limited due to need or limited suppliers who make certain items.
