I think OCD is all wrong, I have CDO it is generally the same thing but I have the letters in the proper order.
An example of my "problems", my primary ratchets are Matco with comfort grips. The flex head ratchets have green handles and the fixed head version has orange handles. I have passed up a 1/2 price flex head ratchet that was new because it had an orange handle.

I don't even want to say how it is with me. It's embarrassing. I've been trying to figure out how/whether to get some Blackhawk tool boards. They are expensive, since there are a lot of them, and they are far away, meaning they will be even more expensive after shipping. I have found myself looking at the pictures that the guy sent me every day, trying to find people in the area to help me out, justifying the cost in my mind etc. I have found myself thinking about them coming out of and going into bouts of sleep, too. It's pretty messed up.
Not surprisingly these kind of responses are of no shock to me... sort of what I expected, but fun to hear about nevertheless. Regarding colors and brands, once you find something you really like and found a good way of organizing them it just helps feed the addiction because there is always space for one more tool.. right? (even when there isn't 
)

I have tools for the shop, but when I'm home I need the same tools so I buy another set. Then I do service calls and need a sets for the truck, that I need at the shop, that I need for home. I realy can't afford a 4th set, BUT then there are those times I need..................

I buy tools to use, not collect. They get beat up, rusty, greasy, etc. I wipe them down before they go in the box, but I don't spend time getting everything perfectly clean by any means.
About the only tool I bought on credit was when I got my welder. I put it on a card and paid it off over the next couple months.

I see a well-made tool or gun as art to be used. I buy mainly basic tools wrenches, ratchets, and screwdrivers in many variations. I am close to fifty and am buying what I expect will last me the rest of my life. I replaced my Snap On sockets sets from the 90 with new ones as well as the ratchets and wrenches and went with GermanScrewdrivers and pliers. I sold off my WW2 German Handguns for modern guns to be used. I had Ted Yost do a Browning HI Power with all the goodies, beavertail checkering and so on.

seems like i'm kinda-sorta between poll options.
most of my work tools, in my service truck, are dirty/greasy/oily, and toolboxes are literally falling apart at the seams
i dont really have the time to clean everything off spotless after every job, as i run 3 -6 calls a day in all kinds of weather.
tools and boxes at the shop are clean, but my boxes are a little dusty, mostly because i'm not there every day using them.
my garage tools ( in my boxes) are clean and organized, boxes are dusty, but not oil/grease covered. everything gets wiped down before it gets put away.
i'm still trying to get more organized at home, very limited space, and too much stuff

I'm not the least bit OCD about my tools. I do try to keep my toolbox reasonably clean and the same goes for my tools as they represent a significant investment for me. However if I finish working in the shop and it's been a long day I'll be doing well if I get all of my tools piled up on top of my box before I leave...
I try to make time to clean my tools up, but grease and grime don't bother me in the least, they're a reminder of a good days work!

Side note: This AM the TV had a report about a local guy arrested for growing psychedelic mushrooms in his house. Googled them for curiosity and it turns out medical science has used an extract from the mushrooms to treat OCD.
Just reporting. I'm far from being OCD, at the other extreme, really.
