Are your garage pics on this contractor's website?

With a background in construction, engineering, architectural design, and photography there are few things that irritate me more than companies that steal photos, especially in the construction industry.

This "contractor" (GC license lapsed) is located near Atlanta, Ga. and had absolutely nothing to do with most of the images on both their company website and Facebook. I've already exchanged messages with a couple users regarding their photos being used but feel free to note any you recognize.

Gunslinger's Harley garage is even used on both the website main page and the Facebook cover photo!

Yep, sure looks like Gunslingers garage (and he's a cop too). The one with the yellow mustang is also a member. A couple of others I reconize from other "garage" sites as well. These guys have balls, maybe looking a some court time.

I started a Facebook page called Dream Garages as a place to store and share all the garage photos I've saved over the years. I try to credit all owner's and/or photographers when I can or share the link to the original source. If someone sends me a pic I always run a Google Image Search on it and trace it to the largest image which is typically the original. When available, I will contact the owner for permission.

While doing such a search yesterday I ran into these pics and instantly recognized Gunslinger's Garage - considering he did the work himself and lives 2,500 miles away it was obvious there's something fishy going on lol!

No respect at all. If we spread the word maybe all of the owners will "follow-up" with this lowlife to have the situation corrected.

I don't understand all I know about this deal of picture posting without permission. I am a guy who is overly paranoid about posting just about anything on line. I even thought long and hard about posting my personal doing on garage journal in the first place. Seeing that many of us do the GJ, I decided it might not be dangerous as long as no exact locations or information in a very personal manner was used. You will notice on my thread there is never any photos of myself or family members. I am sure there is enough information to figure out where I am though.
As for me, I have no idea why anyone would even want to take any of my posted photos and as far as I know no one has. Why would they want it?
To pirate photos of these nice looking garages though (some of them really classy) and then say they can "create them" as a contractor? That is fraud and theft and proliferation of someone else's work. I just might have to think a lot about this.

If nothing else guy has good taste but I think it's sad to steal other people's ideas without giving them credit if he would say I can build something like this etc.

I wouldn't mind someone posting up a pic of my garage, but when a businessman post up pics of other peoples garages for profit, then whoever owns the garage should be getting a percentage of the money that he makes.

One thing about the internet, if you post up something cool, there is copyright laws involved if you mention that the pics can be posted for use and ,blah, blah, blah. And I know that at one time or another, we have all probably posted up a pic we saw on the net of an "over the top" garage, BUT, I don't believe any one of us has done it for personal gain.

If I were Gunslinger, I would sent a nice little e-mail to the guy and ask for a certain percentage, since his garage is being showcased for personal gain by someone else. It's really no different than music artist that are now getting royalties from each time their music is played, hence a lot of the reason that on YouTube the music to some clips have been removed.

This is becoming pretty common nowadays. A friend of mine is a professional photographer and he has found his photos on other websites with other photographers claiming them as their own. A C&D letter is pretty much the only way to go.

Sometimes these idiots will link to the original URL hosting the photos. Might be worth checking their code. Happened to a friend a few years ago and he updated his image file to read in big letters "I AM A RAT AND A THIEF". It was kinda fun to see that post on their site.

I recently came across someone selling refrigerator magnets on eBay with pictures of old cars on them, and one of the magnets he's selling is the picture of my car that's in my avatar, which I took myself. I sent them an email but got no response.
