Argon Adaptor

Hello all. I'm new to welding and am starting out with a used 110 volt welder to do minor work. I have Argon but don't have the adaptor that screws into the bottle. Is there a standard thread size that fits the mini Argon bottle that hooks to the hose? If so which size. That's in advance.

If your mig welding mild/regular steel you need a bottle of argon/co2 mix.do you have gauges?the guages will have what you need to hook the tank up.if the tank you have is strait argon its meant for welding stainless or aluminum.look at the label close to the valve it should say what it is.you may have what you need.

What you are looking for is a regulator. They can be had cheap new. Don't take a chance on a used one you can't test. They also come in various levels of features. The simplest one has an acorn nut and a jam nut and a contents gauge. Next is one with a gauge for bottle contents and low side pressure. On the top tier is one that has the contents gauge and a flow meter device. Any will work but the fine tuning is easier when you can read the flow pressure.

Thanks for the replies. No I don't have the regulator gauges but will get a new set. I have a bottle of Argon/CO2. The old welder I gave away had the setup. I just didn't know the fitting size to go the small Argon/CO2 bottle. Thanks again.

Argon, Argon mixes and other "inert" classified gases are equipped with a valve that has a standard "CGA 580" threading. You will want to get a "flow meter" or a "flow gauge" type regulator for your gas. Also, make sure you get the hose kit that goes with the flow meter. The flow meter outlet is generally a open female threaded port that you must screw an inert gas fitting into for the hose ****** to screw into. The hose ****** and adapter have specific design for then to seat and seal properly.
