I am planning on using this to encapsulate the mastic and cover over with their epoxy. I came upon this product after having read that you typically *CAN'T* use an epoxy over old mastic.
They recommend using 2 coats of their "special primer", and 1 coat of the epoxy. I wasn't planning on adding chips. Would I need the topcoat anyway?
Has anyone used this product for this purpose? Now I'm wondering why is this primer and epoxy OK where most of the time, I've read epoxy isn't suitable for covering old mastic?
It also looks like they used a notched trowel to apply the mastic on my floor. The grooves aren't super deep, but I am hoping this ArmorGarage epoxy is thick enough to cover it over.
Here is the link to their page:

I was hoping this would be the easiest way to deal with the mastic. Also, I do like the look of a painted floor in a basement. I hate grout and tile and I worry about the longevity of vinyl tile. Carpet is out too because we have allergies.
How long will it take to cure so we can use the space again?
How stinky is this stuff?
Sorry for all the questions. This stuff isn't cheap, so I hope it's not a mistake.
Thank you in advance! I hope we're doing the right thing. We plan on selling this house. I hope it will be soon, but who knows how long it will take.
