They really dont give much info and what they do say is really dumbed down... if you want the real story ask for some datasheets. (man i must sound like a broken record by now)

They are the manufacturer of the epoxy, was more than happy to provide thier data sheet for me to share ont he forums.

They do provide samples..... but for $45

They said epoxy-coat is not comparable due to no topcoat, andmusclegloss is a good product, but faulted them for selling the topcaot seperately and having eratic pot life.

They had no comment on wolverine due to lack of information.... AG, Get that site up and running.:bounce:

moogoob lets see those data sheets when you get a chance I would love to see how it compares to what i use... its nice to see a manufacturer that doesnt mind giving you the real scoop! Its all on paper i would save your 45 dollars for samples thats kind of $$$

It sounds like they know their competition well and gave an legitimate comparison as opposed to "we are just the best". After we see the data sheets we can see how competitive they are on price to other comparable products...

RTF wasnt an accepted format. converted to pdf.
I'm requesting the same sheet for armorII and will post it.

Mlynch, can you post your data sheets of the stuff you use as well?

the epoxy looks sufficient... im wondering about that topcoat though. Top coat is the wear layer.

I didn't see anything about that epoxy that should make it more than 50-60 a gallon for an end user.

The epoxy i mostly use for a binder coat has the following poperties you can do your own comparison:
(water clear but not uv stable)
Compressive strength 14235 psi
Tensile strength 6200 psi
Flexural strength 9500 psi
Abrasion resistance Loss 0.013 gms
Absorption (percent) Nil
Heat Resistance (Intermittent) 212oF (100oC)
Heat Resistance (Continuous) 140oF (60oC)

That product is in the 50-60 dollar/gal range to an end user and a little less for contractors who buy in bulk.

Some more info on the armorpoxy stuff

Three products come into questions
  • Armor Ultra
  • Armorclad
  • ArmorpoxyII

Armor ultra and armorclad use the same 100% solids epoxy. The topcoat sets the apart. You can buy armorclad and add the topcaot upgrade, and end up with the armor ultra product.
ApmorpoxyII is solvent based. 65% solids, I'm requesting datasheets

I asked about smaller batches and armorgarage would accomodate.
They offered a gallon of APII, 1.5 gallons of ultra topcoat (pigmented). That should be enough for 2 coats of each for my 1 car space.
Once again close to $100 differnce for the the 100% solids epoxy in armorclad.

All in all, Custmer service (email only at this point) has been very prompt.

Mlynch: what product is that?

that is a product i use... It hasn't been put into a kit just yet but i think in the near future it might be available more readily to you guys. If you want some info on ordering send me a pm and i can get you some info. Unfortunately being a 2:1 ratio i think the smallest kit available would be 3 gallons or so.

They are NOT the manufacturer of this material. Another company has formulated and manufactured this product for them (and others). Budget Bob sold this material when his account wouldn't allow him to buy from us. I'm friendly with the real manufacturer...

I am saying that Armorgarage is NOT the formulator OR manufacturer of the material in the datasheet that was posted...

Ive been asking questions to armorgarge, and armorpoxy about the products.
I think it works like this: Armorgarage is to armorpoxy, as AlphaGarage is to Wolverine coatings. (please correct me if i'm wrong)

I think armorgarage's statement of being the manufacturer is more in line with saying they are not rebadging and renaming an existing product.

(Once again, correct me if i'm wrong)

armorpoxyII samples came in.

Nothing more than a color sample on paper. was not thick or tough in any way. I'm not even going to take a picture.

I'm afraid not...

You see... neither Armorgarage OR Armorpoxy has formulated OR manufactured the product in the datasheet that you posted... they are simply sales outfits that label this product as if it were their own formulation.

AlphaGarage is a sales agent for Wolverine Coatings who IS an actual Formulator AND Manufacturer of dozens of chemistries and formulation types. Wolverine Coatings has laboratories and manufacturing facilities. AlphaGarage does NOT sell any products under their own name that are really formulated and manufactured by another manufacturer.

If you want the product in the datasheet I can produce that for you EXACTLY! We would NOT be willing to put the Wolverine Name on it but would happily rename it with any Brand name that you choose. AND, I would be happy to provide the datsheet for you as well. In fact, if you want to order a sample from them and a sample from us... you could look at them to confirm that they are identical... Smell it... touch it... Apply it... DON'T DRINK IT! lol...

Let me know if you want some MooGoob Epoxy 101 *has a nice ring to it... lol... Or, you can buy a Wolverine Coatings Corporation product from Fred at AlphaGarage!

Thanks for the clarification.
You guys (Eric & Fred) are high on the list, but still going through the decision making process. Fred, hook me up with a sample of white :)

Now if you can call it LiquiGoob... :)

So has anyone actually used this product yet? Im still on the line between Epoxy type coatings and VCT. The drawbacks being Epoxy peeling under the tires and VCT being slick and possible discoloration. This product looks the best so far, at least as far as their claims (I know, Im a sucker for good marketing...but thats all I got right now). Anyone have more info/experience?

I have installed both VCT and epoxy before in my garages at former houses I've owned. No comparison, epoxy is better. VCT is very problematic in a garage. Also, did you see the post about what Armstrong said about use of their VCT in a garage? Everything they stated is true.
A quality epoxy when done according to instructions will never peel under tires.

I am presently building a new workshop ( I have a thread going on the build progress on it) and am going to go with epoxy again.
However, I don't know the brand I am going to use. Last time, I used UCoat-it and will not use it again.
