ArmorSeal 1000 questions

I'm getting ready to coat my floor and found this forum.

Until reading through here about ArmorSeal1000 from SW, I was going to purchase 4 of the $60 Quikcrete kits and do 2 coats on my 600sq ft of garage for a price of $240.

After some research here it seems the ArmorSeal1000 is going to be better, but I have a couple of questions.

- Do I need to cover the 2 coats of ArmorSeal with a coat of Urethane, or is that an "option"? I prefer the "semi gloss" look over the full gloss of something like epoxy-coat anyways.

- Can the 2nd coat go on thinner? SW told me $150 per "kit" of 1 gallon 1000 and 1 gallon hardener which covers 400sq feet. Will 2 kits allow a "full coat" and a "topcoat" on 600sq ft, or should I buy 3 kits?

Thanks!
-Tom

Can you still get the AS1000? I heard it's not sold anymore for environmental reasons, but i haven't personally checked.

Provided it's still available, i did not use a urethane top-coat, and it's working fine. (see my comments in this thread: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10185 )

I had a single-car garage, 288 sq ft, and used a single kit (1+1 gal) and got 2 coats. I had a small amount left over, but I wish i had put it on a little heavier though. I'd say 1 kit per 300sq ft (2 coats) You should be fine with 2 kits. Don't mix enough for the entire coat in one shot, unless you have 2 people working. I only have a 1-car garage, and it was starting to cure towards the end. If i had a bigger garage and mixed up twice as much, a lot of it probably would have gotten thrown out.

Those prices sound high. They sound like "list price" My local store offered me a much better price, without me even asking. I'm pretty sure the 2 gallon kit price ended up under $100 total. It was either $89+tax, or $99+tax, i can't remember. Try asking for a better price. If not, try a different S.W. store.

The good thing about SW is if you need more, just go buy more. No waiting for mailorder. You may need to special order it which might take a day or so depending on the shop.

Mine covered way more than the stated coverage. But it went on thin.
