After a recent successful garage floor re-do with Armorpoxy Armorclad, I'm now considering redoing our back patio with their Armortop.
The back patio was poured in 2 sections, likely several years apart, and there is a 1" expansion joint between the sections. The joint was filled with some sort of material then the entire patio was epoxied. Just after we moved in, the material in the joint began to crack and fall out.
I recently removed the rest of the material, which was white and crumbled easily, almost like gypsum, and was left with a 1" space between the two slabs. I filled this joint with backer rod and polyurethane concrete sealer, to keep further moisture from getting under the slabs. Now I have a large gray "stripe" running between the two slabs.
I'm planning on re-painting the entire patio with Armortop epoxy, mainly to change to color. My question is, can I paint over the polyurethane filler in the joint with the Armortop? If not, is there another way to fill the joint or cover the polyurethane sealer before the epoxy goes on?
