Got mine in the mail yesterday and used it this morning. Seems like a quality piece, built well, good weight. Only gripe I have is the length, i thought it would be longer but ohwell im happy with it for the 60 or so bucks I paid for it!

I believe they're still 60 tooth and only the "aerospace" ones come with 88 tooth kits in them. But, for about $10 you can toss an 88t kit from Matco in it.

I have this ratchet and it is by far my favorite. It comes in either 60 tooth or 88. I bought might right before they started the 88 tooth design, so I have the old version. All I did was spend 15 bucks on the 88 tooth rebuild kit and upgraded mine to it that way. Matco and Gearwrench rebuild kits also fit in it do they are more than available for cheap.

As long as the place you are getting it from is new inventory, you should have the 88 tooth version. I got mine on Amazon for dirt cheap, and it was the older version. Still the best ratchet I have ever owned. I love it.

IMO, the Armstrong MAXX series is one of the best values for a USA made set, I love mine! As far as the length, any longer and you may as well reach for the 1/2" flex if space permits.

PM sent Dave!

I agree i have a matco 3/8 lf and would have bought one in 1/2 until i found this site and found out about the armstrong flex. I wasnt sure id like the handle but i think they are the best flex tatchet for the money...60 or 88 tooth not much difference

i am thinking about the 10-994 1/4 locking flex, i am impressed with an aerospace 88t non-flex 1/2 drive that i've gotten to use at work. however, i want a locking flex, and i like this design over the Snap On.

It's quite long for a 3/8" ratchet. I don't know how long you expected it to be, but info about the length is available online.

It's definitely longer than my other "long" 3/8" ratchets. You really have to step up into the few crazy-long ratchets to find one much longer than an Armstrong 3/8" locking flex.

Here's a photo comparing the 3/8" locking flex with a long Williams ratchet, an SK regular 3/8" and a Wright 3/8".

I bought the 1/2 flex from Advance and ended up liking it so much that I finished the set with the 1/4 and 3/8 flex. I then bought the regular handle aerospace 88 tooth 1/4 and 3/8 and regular Maxx 60 tooth 1/2.

When I got the aerospace ones they were so nice that I ended up buying 88 tooth Matco kits for the other 4 ratchets as well (Armstrong doesn't offer the 1/2 in 88 tooth and listed the repair kits for the 1/4 as 60 tooth and the 3/8 were OOS). I lubed them all up with super lube and couldn't be happier with them. I wasn't a fan of the handle design at first but when I started using them I was surprised by how comfortable it was.

I would buy all six again and would recommend them to anyone looking for new ratchets.

After owning mine for a couple weeks now and using it almost daily as a professional I will say its a pretty decent ratchet for the money. I think i will eventually put the 88 tooth kit in though :)

I use mine all the time. Most if the time I use the armstrong to disassemble due to it's length. I assemble w/ my shorter snap on f 80( bout 7 1/2 inches long) unless I need the flex option.
