I am looking to purchase the Armstrong 11-973 and 12-973 ratchets. We have the Maxx Flex ratchets, which are great, but I also want a set of fixed head, long handle ratchets. My question is, Do the 60/88 tooth repair kits work in these models? I have found a lot of information about 60/88 tooth interchangability, but nothing on the 36 tooth head. For me it won't be a deal breaker if the higher tooth count kits won't work, but I would like to put them in if possible.

If they are the racthet I'm thinking of, no, not even close. I have a 1/4" 36 tooth like those and the more I use it, the more I don't like it.

No. Those ratchets cannot be upgraded to higher tooth counts. I'm personally not a big fan of those ratchets.

I would recommend you check out the long handled Williams round head ratchets. I just bought the 3/8" version and I'm pretty happy with it so far. They're well priced at Tools Delivered. That's where I bought my 3/8" version.

aren't the Maxx flex ratchets that you already have the flex-locking ones? if so just lock it and it's just like a fixed head ratchet.

This traditional style ratchet head cannot be upgraded to 60/88 tooth.

I was really disappointed by that ratchet. I bought a small 1/4 set and that ratchet seemed like a very unit as I tend to like 36 tooths over finer ratchets. I have used it fairly often around the house and like Fed said, it is as crappy as a rp. The sockets are the same as craftsmen. Over all this set has turned me off on Armstrong.

I have a 36 tooth 3/8" ratchet and a 72 tooth MAXX ratchet. The 36 tooth is rather disappointing but better when greased. I'd say its worse than a craftsman raised panel.
