I have a 3/8 standard ratchet. It came super lubed up in the package. I mean oil seeping out everywhere and the ratchet was covered in it. I have to turn the drive end maybe a click before I can engage it the other way. Could it be because of all the oil gumming it up?

Could be, take it apart and clean it and relube it. They're pretty simple to take apart and reassemble.

I liberally applied super lube to mine and haven't had a problem, ymmv though. I believe they come from the factory lubed with Marvel Mystery Oil (the Matco version does for sure).
