I have a 3/8" 11-974 ratchet that was stuck and needed some cleaning. When I was taking it apart, the lever just fell out. When I went to put it back together, the lever no longer stays in. Does anybody have any experience with the rebuild kits for these ratchets? Do I need to flare the end of the lever a bit with a punch so it stays in the pawl?

Thanks, I will give it a try when I get home from work. Have you been able to reuse an old lever or once it comes out it will no longer flare back to stay in the pawl

Kind of funny I just saw this... I was cleaning some of my ratchets this weekend and noticed my Armstrong 1/2 ratchet was missing the lever altogether. So I took apart my 3/8 Armstrong to look inside and the lever was about to fall out as well, the flare was working its way back up, I tried to re-flare it but it cracked.
Im probably going to have to order a couple kits too.

I really don't want to buy a new rebuild kit just for a lever. Has anyone tried to put a little bit of jbweld on the pawl to keep the lever in place? I figure when I need to rebuild, I can just take a punch and crack the jbweld to get the lever out.

I might have a lever. I had a bunch of Armstrong rebuild kits... sold them all, but a few were open and I dumped the leftover parts in a drawer. If you post up a pic of yours I'll take a look at what I've got and see if I have a match.

Heres a picture of the lever from the back. If you need a picture from the pawl side, let me know and I can take it as well. Are the levers different between Armstrong ratchets? I have another 3/8" Armstrong 11-972 ratchet and the lever looks to be the same as this one.

Anybody happen to have a lever for 1/2 drive? I checked the other armstrong ratchets I had and sure enough, my 1/2 ratchet lever is just about to fall out.
