I've got some Armstrongs in the first style (closeouts from Cripe), and the inside- outside swich is pretty neat- you twist the dial, and you're done. It's really an a-ha kind of moment!- but my limited use hasn't shown me how it's practical in the real world. Maybe there are situations where you need the same tip size and angle and also need to switch between inside and outside rings in a hurry, but it just hasn't come up for me yet . I've got a small assortment, and they sit in a box of oddball mechanical tools and get used once in a blue moon.
I've got KD and Cman versions of your third pic, and they've worked fine for me also. It's slower to switch from one hole to the other after lining up the tabs, but IME it's not a regular thing. These are in the household box and get used on random new used ratchets and kitchen appliances and whatnot.
No experience with the type in the second pic. I'm just a regular joe schmoe, not a mechanic or daily tool user. I used to take snap rings out with small screwdrivers and cursing, so I bet my expecatations are set kinda low here.
I also have the multiple size/ angle replaceable tip style from Lang at work and have no complaints about it, either- just takes longer to get it ready.
