Armstrong tools

I love my armstrong ratchets and am thinking of building my set up with mostly armstrong tools. I'm looking for the best place to purchase from. I did a google search and most of the threads were 4-5 years old. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.

It's a lot easier to find them by googling the part number instead browsing stores on the internet. Download the catalog for the part numbers.

I think some of the craftsman industrial (at least the black oxide wrenches) are made by them (and some other stuff, t handles) but with craftsman stamps. That's your best way of buying their tools somewhat cheaper. Those are really awesome wrenches in my opinion. I have to check out some of their other stuff eventually.

Sears sells a bunch of their stuff that you can site to store (free shipping) that I saw when I was buying some other stuff. Not just in their industrial brand but actual armstrong branded; expensive though.

I may be wrong but are craftsman USA sockets pretty much Armstrong sockets? Like identical? Years ago(like 3or4) I got an Armstrong in one of my craftsman sets. So if true one could buy the newer craftsman industrial and have Armstrong pretty much? Also there is an industrial tool supply place near me that is now carries Armstrong. It depends, I bought a 1/4 Armstrong set that's brand new because the price was right. Sockets, extensions, and the u joint are 100% the same as craftsman. Now that really isn't a bad thing, I always thought USA craftsman sockets and what not were good tools. I simply don't see paying a premium for the Armstrong name. The kit came with a 36 tooth pearhead ratchet that is kinda a SO clone, big POS. Now I can't talk what their full range of sockets are like since I only own one set. Overall the couple pieces of new Armstrong I have picked up has not impressed me at all.

Napa has them available as well...4,869 Armstrong part numbers listed on their web site. Hardly any stock in individual warehouses, but are listed as available from supplier.

Yes, you'll save a bunch of money getting the CM Industrials/Professionals while they're still out there.

They are the same as Armstrongs.

Ratchets from advance auto website with the ~40% or so coupons is a good deal.

I got stuff like breaker bars and speed handles from ebay for cheap while still new in the package.

talk to teken, he is the armstrong guru if i recall. too bad he hasn't come back.

for some reason he decide to leave both sites even though nobody had any issues with him at the gazette.

i believe he had a huge thread about all of the armstrong tools he ordered. they looked pretty decent too.

Cripes deals in closeout tool sales.... They have Armstrong 12-996 ratchets for $39.00.

This is an indexible head ratchet, 72 tooth count, 1/2" drive.... I ordered one yesterday, along with other tools to combine shipping charges.... I'm looking forward to trying it out... It will be either a good ratchet or a $39.00 education My bets are on the good ratchet,,

The OP wanted to know the best PLACE to purchase Armstrong tools, not which tools he should purchase.

I have ordered Armstrong stuff from HJE, Trident, Royal Supply and Cripe. Typically HJE and Cripe have a limited selection IN STOCK. All the Armstrong stuff I have ordered through Royal Supply and Trident had to be ordered from Armstrong. The last Armstrong stuff I ordered through Trident took weeks and Trident was very bad at keeping me informed. Having said that, Mike was very apologetic.
