Here are some pictures of a maintenance facility my company recently finished last summer at an Army base. I wasn't directly involved in the construction but I thought ya'll might like to see some of the finished pictures. I believe they will mostly be working on hummers and other combat vehicles in here.

i work at one of these, we call them AMSA or area maintenance facilities, or ECS. A lot of these are under equipped believe it or not. Most have lifts but no 3 phase or sufficient air to support them. Humvees will at most get a swapped engine, they are not actually rebuilt here. The sad reality is that it is a giant structure used to replace filters and seals.

Through the years I've had the chance to work on the design of a couple truck garages, a bus garage, and even a Stryker Brigade building. Always cool to work on a large scale "garage" project like that!

It looks like a killer bldg, it'd make a nice home shop with an apt.

Well wait about 20 years and you can probably by it for 5k. Our military deserves the best, but the other part of government can sure waist some serious money.

If it had only about another 900 square feet I could find a use for it. I guess I'll have to pass.

That looks a lot like the motor pool I worked in at Ft Drum when I was a 63B, 20 years ago.

There's not much equipment there because it all has to be able to get up an go. Everyone had a basic tool set that fit into a basic hand carried tool box. The tool crib would be packed up. And the contact truck would have about the same power and air as the shop would, but at a smaller wattage and cfm.

This shop is at Fort Campbell in KY. We built two of these and there were already one or two on the base. The first time I saw the pictures I thought it would be perfect to live in but I don't think I'd ever get the wife to agree! the masonry walls in the one bay is for the welding area and the hoses are for the fluid distribution. It has radiant floor heating which the lift guys hit during install! Luckily they were working for the base and not us at the time. (They drilled way farther than they should have.)

The combined maintanance facility they just built at FT.Dix has like 40 bays all with radiant heaters on the ceiling, radiant floor heat and forced air heat, unbelievable setup.
