Everyone on the GJ is aware of that name if not well then either they just woke up after a long sleep or they had too much beer the night before! As a matter of fact I will go out on a limb and say the vast majority of our members either own his tools or to be on the safe side they have held his tools in their hands or better yet they have seen pictures of his tools...
Not a day goes by on the GJ when either I hear talk of him good or bad, and the GJ has a long track record of posts about his tools.!
So without fanfare he got his start with money from other people to turn out tools for the bicycle and fledgling auto industry at the turn of the Century.
Started on Oct. 15th 1900 in Springfield Massachusetts Arthur L. Moore started his company the Moore Drop forging Co. and along the way he had some labor problems, asbestos problems, and copyright trademark problems but he left his mark with some very well made tools like his Craftsman V series hand tools.
He was a busy man with 5 patents to his name and along the way his company picked up a few more patents. In 1919 they bought the Page-Storms Drop Forge Company and Moore lasted till they were sold to Eastern Stainless Steel Corp. in 1967. In 1969 Eastern became Easco which in turn got sold to Danaher in 1990.
I thought I would give plug for GJ Twertsy's web-site along with a few tool pictures and some links for you too enjoy.
