Got a steam threshing/tractor show fix Sat at Meriden, KS and lucked into a mix n' match toolbox that I was waffling on (don't really NEED any more tool boxlots but...) until I closed the lid and saw the brand plate - can't recall ever seeing an Artisan box in the wild. The Artisan ratchet is what first caught my eye - can't seem to find the one I got awhile back. Tossed a couple more box wrenches and the NB 3/8" ratchet in the mix to cut a $35 deal. There was more in the box but this is most of the USA stuff, with the exception of the 1/2" Stanley socket set & one of the 3/8" sockets (the rest are Waldens). The other exception is the 6" Wescott s-wrench/RR wrench - that was $20 by itself from another table - a little more than I'd like but now I've got 6, 8, 10, & 12" ones (and $20 is on the lower end of fleabay including ship & tax).

The only tools marked artisan were the ratchets, the rest were standard sk, so pretty easy to collect up a set for that box

Might have ratchet. Would have definitely tossed it; not even thought about, always toss off brand and asian ratchets unless Indestro fine tooth under one name or another; save those for rebuild kits. Have soft spot for these old boxes, kept on workbench few days, then tossed to make room. I'll take badge out for collection; not remember that when tossed it.

So were the sockets and other drive tools branded S-K, or were they unbranded from S-K? I've got a fair chunk of an S-K set that might be from @ that time, or at least a close match.

I picked up an Artisan short dbl box wrench this year as well - the ratchets have been the only branded tools I've seen (or at least noticed) until lately.

So PowderKeg’s box would originally looked like this S-K set with the Artisan ratchet and the Artisan label on the box. Actually not an economy brand, rather a contract set, as OTG mentions.

Cool! I'm plannimg on keeping the box and a fair part of the contents to fill out a truck set.

Sockets and tools were marked sk, just the ratchets and boxes were marked artisan

The tools from Boogerman arrived and there are only a few sockets and a breaker bar missing to complete the set. The price seems like a bargain to me.

Probably an Artisan marked box like either of these two larger S-K sets would allow me to complete the Artisan set.

I'm late to this party because of my end of summer project. You got a heck of a nice deal, Don. Well done. You rarely see the Artisan stuff in the wild these days. Heck, I've only come across a 1/4 inch drive set once. Of course it came home with me. lol

If I ever find the correct Gambles Artisan box the set would probably look like this.

The tools that would go in the set. I had an Artisan ratchet already. IMG_0242.jpeg
