My idea is to buy two of these, have them facing away from each other, and add a single or two drawer middle box to the top to link them together so that it more or less turns it into a toolbox/Desk I can use out on the floor for machine repair.

The shipping weight is 55.1 lbs.
presuming at least 5 lbs for the packaging, that makes the box about 50 lbs. or a bit less.
That seems a bit lightweight to imply sturdiness.

I bought a few because they were the only metal rolling boxes w a low enough profile (height) to fit under my current worktable.

the biggest issue is there are functionally two versions of the work box.

one version (cd-2204) has pin mounted casters on all four corners, two of which can lock, and detents that prevent drawers from casually drifting open, and from more than one drawer from opening at once.

the other versions (cd-2205 or 2207) have flange mounted casters, w crappier versions of wheel locks, which are mounted further inboard. They also have nothing to prevent any or all of the drawers from opening at once, easily shifting the center of gravity forward and toppling the box onto the floor.

I think my only current workaround is to stack washers on the open side to give it some back tilt, and use gravity to keep the drawers closed.

this makes a **** ad photo, but is a failure of design (or conversely, a win for the bean counters)

A bid of thread necro... I have two of these, one of the 7 drawer and one of the 5 drawer. I love them, but I use them in my office for 3d printing and electronic supplies. They fit under my soldering bench (on leveling feet). They would be completely unsuited to a shop environment - they are just not strong enough and would rapidly fall apart as mentioned above. For lower intensity applications the compact size is a huge plus. Fit and finish could be better, but for <$200 shipped there really aren't any alternatives. I'm about to buy a third. The drawers are almost exactly 12x6 gridfinity units
