I have a set Corona Anvil Loppers model FL3420 that came with fiberglass handles. Over the years it was slightly abused and one of the fiberglass handles has broken. Corona does not have replacement handles available - I have spoke with their customer service.

Where could one find a set of 24" x 1.25" Ash handles for replacement? I have looked online and have had no luck. Loppers are only $26.99 on walmart.com so looking to save the ones I have for 1/2 that or less.

Anyone with a wood lathe that would want to make me a set?

You can get new Corona loppers with wooden handles for under $30. It seems to me that unless you have a friendly neighbor who owes you a favor with a lathe and a source of nice dry straight grain hardwood you’d be better off just buying new. You’d get new blades that way too. Your old ones have any nics?

Just the postage for a GJ guy to send them to you would be most of the $30

BTW, you can get Corona loppers with STEEL handles. That’s what I have and I keep them indoors and sharpen them once in a while and don’t cut wire. I expect them to last me the rest of my life.

Do you want the handles fancy, or just straight?
If you don’t mind straight handles, you can buy Ash Dowels in 1-1/4” diameter sizes, as long as 24” and much longer.
Technically, a dowel made from rivel wood would be stronger, but I’m not sure how many handle places bother with that now.
This is just a place I found with a quick google search.

I just hate that we are a throw away society, these have many years left in them if I could just replace the one handle easily.

I do have access to a wood shop with a lathe - just never used it. My grandfathers wood shop - uncle lives there now.

Maybe I can find a cheap handle or an old tool I can make one out of from a thrift or second hand shop.

Why does it take someone else to spark a good thought sometimes?

Your local hardware store should stock shovel handles. Figure 12 or 13 dollars for a pair. Cut off the length you need and tailor with a wood rasp.

A ball bat is a source of ash for handles or a broken shovel handle. We have a flea market with a guy that always has a supply of handle seconds, but they are still very usable.

Given that the original handle is pretty straight, I'm thinking a broken shovel handle or ash dowel would do the trick, as others have suggested.

And good on the OP for wanting to save the tool! Nothing wrong with a little Yankee frugality (though people usually just call me cheap). ;)

Buy the Fiskars next time. When/if they break you just send them a pic and you get new ones in the mail.
Really? My Fiskars hedge shear and long branch cutter are both worn out. Would Fiskars just send me new ones?
