Asphalt Driveway drainage

Hi all,

I recently had an asphalt driveway installed. The contractor did a base of 8" modified stone, binder coat 2", and top coat of 2". Everything looks good but I noticed during some light rain last week that one area of the driveway has some small pooling of water. The water sort of flows down and then stops in that area.

If there is stronger rain, then things tend to flow off right to the street.

Is this caused by a low spot?

Is the expectation with a new pave there should be absolutely no puddles? Is this repairable or would it need to be redone?

For what it is worth, after the rain stops, the water seems to disappear - guessing eventually trickles off and/or evaporates.

Is it possible that oil from the asphalt or surface could be temporarily causing this? It's freshly paved. Or is this almost always a low spot?

Oil isn't going to make water pool, it must be a low spot. If it bothers you talk to the guy that installed it.
