I am having a new asphalt driveway installed at my home NY. I have spoken to several contractors for bids and some like to use type 6f the other prefers 7f. It will be edged with belgian block and have a cambridge paver walkway. Is either grade of asphalt more durable than the other for a residential driveway? I was told the 7f has smaller aggregate in it, but not sure why one would be preferable to the other.

Hmmm...not sure what the 6f stands for...I'm sure different states have different terms for the same thing. Generally, road bases are built with 1/2" aggregate, and capped with 3/8" aggregrate mix. I'm sure your local asphalt plant can tell you what they recommend for your application though.
