Assymetrical Lift Question

I had my lift installed last Friday and I have a question about proper loading. On most unibody cars I have worked on the lift points are the pinch weld. The manufactures manual says the front arms should be positioned almost perpendicular with the face of the column.

If I were to do this the arm would overshoot the lift points on most unibody cars. Should I move the arms so they are angled forward or backward?

Not knowing the brand of lift you have makes it hard to say. My feeling would be to position the arms forward if needed to hit the lift points. Placing the front arms angled to the rear may be placing the load too far to back. You can call the lift manufacturer and get their input.

Direct Lift said that hardly ever do the arms sit perpendicular to the column.
