Nice and sharp, I've used a few sizes. Most of my work is just m8x1.25 and m6x1. Bolt breaks off holding something mundane like a plastic undertray, I just drill through the stump and tap it. I have a half dozen of my most used m8x1.25, so I can't comment on how long they hold up. Ratcheting tap handle is cool, but I usually use tap sockets or a standard handle.

They work pretty good I do my best to go easy on taps, Astro customer service is amazing though I broke a bit (completely my fault) when I called to order a new one they sent a free one no questions

I'll be the voice of dissent: I was power tapping 1/4-20 with a Tapmatic in my Bridgeport and was not impressed with the cutting ability or durability of their tap. After poor performance in a few holes the tap snapped. HSS UB (Union Butterfield) hand taps were holding up great, though.

That said, I applaud AP for putting together kits like this and they were intended for occasional use by hand.

I doubt they intend for use in a power mill since there aren't HSS, but we've used the M6 and M8 at work at least a few dozen times with little to no oil and they are holding up great.

Astro Pneumatic Tool 7582 Automotive Tap & Die Set - Metric https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JBNGZM8/?tag=atomicindus08-20 Ordered this. I have craftsman and Lang rethreaders but wanted a real tap and die set. Supposedly rugged Japanese steel.

I have an older (Made in the USA) English and Metric tap and die set. That set (NOT Made in the USA) would be over $200 now ! At that price, it is a good investment.

I did not realize they have drill and tap sets (no dies) in both English and Metric.

Not sure about that funky looking tap holder, but I like the 3/4" die holder !
