Anyone have the Astro 9447 extractor set?

How is the quality compared to the Ridgid/Blue Point extractor set? I was shopping for the Ridgid 35585 set when I found the Astro. Ridgid is USA (is Ridgid still USA?), Astro Tiawan. The price is 1/3 on the Astro which is nice, but this isn't the kind of tool I want to cheap out on. Looks like the case on the Astro is larger than Ridgid which is a bummer.

The RIDGID is noticeably better in use. The bearing steel they use for the extractor poles we've tried before and the smaller extractor poles get all wonky and curved, dialing in the heat treatment for something that hard and thin is a major pain with thousands of scrapped parts.
It represents about a 10ish% torque difference before fracture which can be worth it.

@dyermullet

It looks like you're not a frequent poster (though you may be a consummate lurker) so I just wanted to point out that the poster who is responding to you here is in fact an employee of Astro Pneumatic Tools.

It sounds like they know the RIDGID product well, and are saying that in order to keep their price point, they have not been able to use the same materials used in the RIDGID set. It's pretty unique (and nice) to hear that straight from Astro, and is probably the best you're going to get in terms of actual feedback on the relative performance of the tools.

So it truly does become a question of whether the performance difference is going to justify the price difference in your use case*.

*If all that was obvious, please disregard this entire post.

Well you can pretty much close the thread at this point.

I'll just say I have the Ridgid set in Blue Point flavor and the Astro set. :lol:

I have the Ridgid set. They are worth the $ and have one of the best designs, if not the best.
