So I have searched with no avail. Will the AP 9477 do metripack crimps? I don’t need to worry about the seals. It doesn’t have to be perfect but if I can get it to work for about 30 crimps that would be great.

No experience with the AP crimper ( I do have one similar though), but these work well for weatherpack & metripack terminals.

I can try it tomorrow if you really want, but why do you want to use that particular tool to crimp the wrong terminals? If you just need to do a few, and only once, you can get a decent, correct crimper for fairly cheap. The one linked above is probably fine.
I have the Astro 9477 and their 9478 weatherpack kit. The dies are interchangeable between the two so it's a good combo to have both, keeping your two most used die sets in each. Their weatherpack dies are damn good and I haven't found it necessary to upgrade, whereas I've found I'm better off with dedicated crimpers to replace everything the 9477 did.
That's not to say it's not a good kit, it definitely is, but I do enough crimping that a better version of each was worth it.

I told you I'd try it out, I did. It didn't work well at all. I crimped a 12AWG terminal. Visually it looked pretty good actually, the insulation crimp even looked really nice on the wire without a seal, and the core crimp had a nice even B shape. It had zero mechanical connection however, and pulled right out with almost no effort. The electrical connection was surely horrid as well.Thanks for the info guys. I’ll just spring for the 9478 or a single use one. I was trying to save a bit of money and get a crimper that worked for more then just metri packs
There's good reason to use the correct tools with terminals.
