Princess Auto sells Power Fist and Pro Point as far as I know. Never seen any Astro equipment. But PF and the Astro appear they were made by the same manufacturer. PA is probably very similar to HF.

Ones 3.85", ones 4.5". So not exactly the same.
Although the body looks to me to be bought from the same casting facility.

How about it Chris? Does Astro make and sell tools relabeled for Princess Auto? Or could this be a clone from China? Does Astro manufacture it's own components or are they made elsewhere?
Not that it matters.I was just wondering. Thanks, Ken

I unfortunately cannot discuss who we do and do not private label tools for.
For the ones we do not private label, I anticipate there will continue to be several mini impacts getting to the market that are aiming for our design or something similar, because it's well known at this point that it sells and performs well. However, if I'm honest we weren't the first one's on the block with a mini impact either - so it's not fair to say they are just copying us.

As for the housing, unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, you can now find these everywhere in Taiwan. There are a handful of outfits offering this same shell for many air tool factories to utilize at this point. The way around that is to make a custom design casting that plays on your brand's standard design or logo - but that delays the product hitting the street and has to be baked into the cost. We usually reserve that route for some of our private label customers.

One of your distributors is KMS in Canada. They have a great store. I wish they would move further east so they could service the area I live in. They appear to be expanding so should see your product eventually.

Haha, you'd like them to move east. Think of how much further east I am. And how much more Canada is east of me. I stop in the one in Victoria when I'm out visiting my in-laws.

I am understanding KMS started out in Coquitlam. They are slowly growing from there with at least 10 stores now. I imagine you are on their email list. If not they will gladly add you. I always enjoyed going to Lee Valley when we were in Calgary or Edmonton, but we have our own now so anything is possible. Do you have the G2S stores nearby which were mentioned by Chris.

Yeah, we do a lot of business with KMS. Maybe try G2S? I know they do a lot with us as well and are located in the East.

KMS is the best. Especially the Coquitlam store, it has an old school vibe. The owners are quality people!

There's one close to my work. I haven't heard about them before this. I'll have to check it out.

About G2S. You dont have to go to an actual G2S store, they are affiliated with lots of independent industrial suppliers. In my area one has the G2S catalogs/flyers on the counter to order out of, and another store has the IDI (?) industrial catalog which as far as I know is a G2S subsidiary. For being a Canadian company the prices arent that bad, so long as you dont get stuck with shipping. Also, some G2S dealers will sell under catalog/flyer price.

The (relatively) new Princess ProPoint compact impact is a direct clone of the Astro, if not made in the same plant. Right down to the textured finish. I have one, and for the $99ish it is on sale, its a pretty nice gun.

Generally speaking the ProPoint stuff is way, way better quality than the old PowerFister.

No doubt about that. I believe the Power Fist had a replacement policy that they would simply give you another one if it broke down. Not knowing this I simply threw them in the scrap metal bin. Don’t think I have any old PF around anymore.

I generally avoid PowerFist on anything electrical, or with moving parts (like a ratchet), and if there's something better on everything else. What's even worse is JobMate from Crappy Tire! None of that has ever darkened my door.

Let us know what G2S has to offer. I noticed you are from Thornhill have you ever went up to Bradford and check out The Guild?

Never heard of The Guild either... I guess I'll have to check it out too.

Yup I generally avoid off brand electrical stuff. Jobmate/mastercraft and Powerfist included. Dont think Ive ever had a quality off brand electric tool.
