Anyone own the set? I'm looking for a set mostly going to be used for grinding locking lug nuts / stripped nuts off when the removers won't work.

Also looking for some cobalt buts to assist in said venture. Boss has snap on but I don't see the truck anymore. He comes on my day off and that's a good thing

I too have the astro set. Works well, not sure how well it would grind through hardened steel or cast iron.

It seems to do basic stuff just fine.

I have the astro set and while I don't use them everyday they have done everything I have asked of them. I got the 1221 kit that comes with the burrs and two die grinders for about 80 bucks. The grinders aren't the most powerful but they are decent and you can never have too many die grinders so you can leave them set up and not have to keep changing bits.

ive had my set for a year or 2 now, mostly for sheet metal projects and taking down weld beads, but work well for some of the thicker stuff too and don't seem to show any signs of wear really. for the price and what I use them for, I would recommend them.

I've dad my set for a couple of years now, and they've been fantastic.

I chipped one, but that was only because my old die grinder was worn out and not turning at full speed in a tight space opening up a drilled hole. Switched to a new die grinder (thanks to Hot Deals on here) and the same bit still cuts fine.

Sounds like a win for the money

Any cobalt drill bit recommendations? I make pick up a set of left hand bits as well. Irwin had a good size set with extractors

I like the Astro burrs. For cobalt bits, I have enjoyed this set:

Combine with various Northern Tool coupons (I got my set for $80 but that coupon is long expired) and it's tough to beat that deal. The bits in my set are made by I think Chicago Latrobe, the index is Huot, all USA. Each bit is individually stamped USA. At the very least you could use the $10 off $50 coupon.

I have the left hand Irwin set without the extractors (already have a set I don't use), and they work great.

I bought that set last year when they were on sale, EXCELLENT bits. I've broken and lost a couple (my own fault), but have just replaced them with Irwin Cobalts off the shelf at ACE as I go.
