Astro Introduces Large Capacity Rivet & Rivet Nut Drill Adapters

Our new drill adapters with our exclusive design have been a hit. We sold out quickly with about just as many people asking why they don't do larger sizes.

So we made some models that will set larger sizes. Pretty simple.
The ADN38 has a 3/8" rivet nut capacity and the ADR14 up to 1/4" pop rivets (we're looking at you, window regulators).

Still CNC'd from billet bodies, CRO-MO mandrels and Japanese bearings.

You'll need some modern cordless tools to set the largest sizes on these XL models. Essentially most small form factor lithium 16 & 18V drills for steel on the pop riveter and full size 18V/20V drills for the largest steel rivet nuts.

The pop rivet length capacity is around a 3/8-7/16" grip range.

It's about time Chris. I've been holding off on buying both kits until you offered the larger size. So now that we're past that little issue I'll be spending some coin on more Astro goodness.

These add around 6" to the end of a driver, same as the previous models. Use a right angle drill for max clearance.

I get a 404 when I go to your Web site. What's it weigh? I have never seen a pop rivet that large!

ADN38 is a rivet nut setter, so 3/8" rivet nut capacity.
I'm expecting the new ADN38 3/8-16 capacity rivet nut setter to be $10-15 more than the current 1/4-20 capacity ADN14 rivet nut setter.

Pop rivets the largest is the new ADR14 which is still just 1/4" pop rivets

Attached to a mid sized drill, these adapters are similar length or shorter than our hand tools that set the equivalent rivet nuts and pop rivets with the added benefit of not needing the swing area of the arms.

If I clamp this in a vice, could I use it stationary via bringing panels over to it while running the drill from the other side?

The nicest idea for a nutsert setter was a little hydraulic pistol I had. it would effortlessly do pop rivets and nutsets of any size, with a few squeezes. The company was bought by Huck but is only considered maintenane grade. Unlike the rest of their industrial line, they farm out service to one guy in Utah, I think. The problem was that it was a POS, always broken and finally too expensive to fix. When it worked it would squeeze a 1/4" stainless pop rivet like butter and it was the size of a hand gun. I wish somebody else would have picked up on the idea. The air/ hydraulic ones tie you to a hose and I don't know if any do nutserts and rivets.

How well does the ADR36 do on 3/16" SS rivets? I have to install these on a pretty regular basis. They're terrible to do by hand, and I can't always use my pneumatic tool.

Would I be better off with the ADR14? I can only find the ADR36 in Canada...

If your goal is stainless you're going to need the ADR14 unfortunately. As it's a new item you may not see it instantly, but I imagine you would soon wherever you're seeing the ADR36.

We've looked into this style/design. In my opinion it seems it wants to kill itself. Warranty nightmare that I don't want to adopt.

I guess that explains why the Huck is out there by it's lonesome. The cost of a hand held hydraulic pump gun, built to last, might be cost prohibitive, I'm guessing.
