How long have you had the Astro Pneumatic Radiator Pressure Tester & Vacuum Type Cooling System Kit and how often do you use it?

Does it leak, maybe not when new but after a few years?

There seems to be many just like it for less than half the price. This one claims to be made in Taiwan; the others are made in China.

Around 3 years ago we picked up the 78585 because we 1st bought one that looked the same, even a blue case but ultimately would lose its seal after 3-5mins. It was also China.
The 78585 has been good since we got it though, worth the price

I've had mine 2-3 years. The suction hose got a little loose on the barb, I added a fuel-injection hose clamp and solved that. No other leaks I can mention, although sometimes the body of the tool will twist slightly from the pull of the air line and hoses. It pivots around a fitting; and I simply turn it back when I'm done. I lost the o-ring for the large metal tester cap, I replaced it with a o-ring from a headlight assembly.

I bought it for use at work, probably sees 40-50 cars a year? If you're buying such a tool look up their pneumatic pressure tester add-on. Uses shop air and a regulator to pressurize the system, no more pumping. Very nice for pinpointing larger leaks.

The only issue I ever had with it was bleeding a 100% empty porsche cayman. 3 radiators in the nose, 10' of piping, midmounted engine. IMO the venturi used wasn't big enough to really **** the system down. I gravity fed the front radiators until they bleed a solid stream from the return hose ports, then vacuum bled it.

Thanks for the replies...so far.

I need it to work with the following Astro Pneumatic fitting (78585-23) for the Porsche.

A nicely made bit but Astro Pneumatic could have done a better job though as the threads on the factory cap use a trapezoidal thread and not a common set of threads as found on a bolt that Astro Pneumatic used. It works though.

+1 for the AP pneumatic tester, works great.

The kit at work is similar/almost identical to the Astro 78585 kit, not sure on the brand, it has a black case. No issues.
