Astro Pneumatic hose clamp pliers

Has anyone had any luck with the Astro Pneumatic memory hose clamp pliers? I bought one & it is a total piece of garbage. It binds & makes even squeezing the smallest clamps miserable, the cable/mechanism stretches so you can’t lock the clamp open & slide it onto the hose. I have other stuff from them that is great but this is a total let down.

Yeh I have a cheap pair for over a year in busy shop no dramas yet, astro will sort you out if approach them about the issue .

I've had no trouble with them at all they were a hero on a waterpump outlet pipe replacement.

In either case I'm sure Astro will make everything right. There's a rep who is very active on here helping people out.

Edit: I just looked on Amazon and see there's a different version that is the "memory" version with a thicker cable. So maybe that one has some issues the non memory one doesn't?

Yes mine is the memory version. I sent it back today. Still out $20 bucks for shipping to & from.. learning experience I guess!

+1... There are lots of companies that have a great warranty service, very few that initiate the process or go above and beyond to consumers via the interwebs in cases like yourself.

I've had mine for almost a year now and it's smooth - no binding. Maybe just a fluke.

I have the Cornwell version of these and they work for what I need them to. Didnt want to spend $100+ on Snap On. Got them for about $50 on sale. Only problem I have with them are the handles are spread a little to far apart that makes it a little difficult on larger hose clamps.

That's been my experience too.

Chris followed thru and sent the original version to me. I tried it out on some leftover new clamps I had on my toolbox from the project I purchased these for and immediately could tell these worked much better than the memory style. The clamps were easy to compress with little or no cable stretching and no binding.
