Astro pneumatic pop rivet tool

Recently acquired a used Astro pneumatic pop rivet tool. I've never used one before and have a question about its function. I was expecting it to pull and pop the rivet all in a single stroke. Instead it takes 3-4 cycles to complete a single 1/2" long rivet. Really not a big deal, just want to know if this is normal .

yes. depends a lot on the grip range of the pop rivet you're using vs the thickness of material

Perfectly normal. Pro tip: If using near a delicate surface (car paint, finished metal, etc) support the tip of the gun with your other hand by holding tip with thumb and forefinger. Had a guy working for me in my old body shop that refused to listen to me. When the rivet popped, he ran the gun up the fender placing a deap gouge in the new paint.

Thanks for the response guys ! Scored it for $30 including shipping, and it is working good. Guess I'll try to buy a fresh set of jaws and set of tips......

Depends on the length of the rivet. Use a rivet that's designed for the thickness of material you're working with, and that will minimize the amount of pulling. But yea, it'll probably still take more than one or two pulls.
