Especially on newer items, demand has grown as lead times (the time to complete a production cycle) has increased. Especially forged parts, and especially still Taiwan and U.S.
Yeah, it's been tough.
So, I just finished ordering both 1/2 inch sets of pinless sockets, as well as the 1/2 inch nano sets.

I'm waiting to order the 3/8 sets, but if you tell me that the "no skips" set won't be available for a long time, then I'll go ahead and order the regular sets.

Again, thanks for the awesome offerings!

Hey I have a question for Chris @Astro_Pneumatic_Tools

I have the 1423 model rivet gun and was trying to find if you sold the riv nut mandrels for it. i found some other model guns that look similar that comes as a full kit but I really only need M6 and M8 mandrels. do you sell a kit or separate parts for this rivet gun?

I see you have them on your site for other models, but not the 1423

1423 is a pop riveter, no way to convert it to rivet nuts. The combination tool we make was designed from the ground up to do both and doesn't cross over parts wise with any of our rivet nut tools due to that.

Hey Chris. Got to really use my 498k the other day. I work on forklift equipment so a heavy duty air hammer is a god send.

Just a heads up at first it was DOA. Turned out it was full of chips from machining clogging the ports. So maybe keep an eye on the qc coming out of your plant. Go it all blown out and reassembled and was good to go after that.

Other than that I used the Astro 3 piece bit set. Work wonderfully and have the 12” hammer bit on the way currently. Thanks for starting to make some more .498 bits. You keep making new ones and I’ll keep buying. Also thanks for making this hammer as a pet project. It’s a nice tool to have and I’m glad I got one of the limited runs being made.

very nice!!! are planning on a 10-19mm set?

Where's the long nano socket flex head ratcheting handle?
Yes, 10-19mm no skips
Few more months, 78318
Hello. What is the overall length on the 91210 Nano Ratchet – 1/2″ Drive Head In 3/8″ Ratchet Body? Thank you.
10", it's the last 2 numbers.
Looking for something longer or shorter?
340 lb torque seems like it would be more than enough, right?

Blow mold tray? Tray seems like the more user friendly choice for this particular product.
Blow mold case in the attached image. We make trays, and foam trays for other brands who like the visual, but we try to save space these days where we can and look at that case. Not a wasted mm.

Just curious; when you test swivels, do you test over a range of angles, or is the standard to just test with everything in-line?
The standard is to test as shown. We test at angles with impacts which doesnt have a standard.

Uhh correction, I was told in another thread that you're only a Me Too tool company. And this looks like a tool in response to another thread here :p
Around 60% of our product is under other brands names. So by me too, that's correct in that when we can sell it as well we're like "Finally! Me too"

Hang in there Harry. As you can see it's already been assigned a part number, 78318. Yea I know, when you're an inventor you can't wait to see your baby born. But tools, like humans, have a gestation period.

I don't consider it my baby. It was just a random thought I had. It's February, and I was just curious that's all.

Yes, very nice! It's a tray when open and a case when close. Best of both worlds.
Only if the lids stay attached better than the gearwrench ones :p

For space reasons I've had to run the 3/8 nano impact swivels with my Milwaukee high torque on a few tough crank nuts and such. 0 breakage so far.

I am guessing by this statement that the pinless swivel extension shown is not impact rated, then? Just clarifying.
Not really sure why you got that from that statement.

i took it to mean that there is no ANSI standard for torque at an angle, which severely robs any impact of torque anyway.

They are impact rated, the testing for hand tool universals and impact universals method wise is very similar actually. ASME can be pretty limited in scope. Which is why we do a handful of other processes as well.

Gotcha. I was guessing at the non-impact, as you said you tested as shown for a standard (which I read as testing non-impact that way) and tested impacts at an angle. Based off of the lack of angle in the pic is what led me to that guess, BUT...I didn't want to assume. Hence my question.

Thanks for clarifying, interested when they make an appearance.

Could you save even more by having them back to front?
Looks like the answer would be yes (ever so slightly). But, then they aren't all the same way, and that's not right.
But if you look closely, the business ends are all the same size, making the OCD tool storage people VERY happy. No worries about disproportionate castings, steps between sizes, changes in length not being equal.

Testing / field testing has completed on the 3/8" pinless universal extensions and something users mention is that all these universal extensions for all brands, pinned, pinless seem to lose a TON of torque from the tool to the bolt.
My team is working on verifying that, and we're making 2 changes to the tooling design that go outside the normal ANSI dimensional ranges to mitigate a decent amount of that loss, which we'll do by verifying. So you'll get pinless 3/8" universal extensions that lose less torque than anything else out there, with no skips, for about the same price as these were already going to be (something like $120? $130 or so street price? Around there). Only downside is a little bit more of delay before they come out.

People see my boxes and figure it's all full of snap on. I have ALL the brands, but there's a stupid amount of Astro in that box. It works, and it's priced at a very reasonable range. The quality is there, the innovation is there, and the price is Harbor Freight + 20%. But you're talking top notch tools and ideas. Cooling system tester for everything, Goliath C frame press, all the air tools, the specialty air hammer bits, the nano sockets, the lights, etc.

Now I need to find a way to justify buying these extension swivels, despite the tool appearing to solve very few problems that I encounter regularly.

Wonder if these would sell better as individual units rather than a set? Maybe someone only needs (or wants) a few sizes at most, so they could better justify spending $30 vs $130 (for example).

Maybe the techs at foreign use 10/12/14mm but the domestic tech uses 10/13/15mm?

Around $10-15 a piece would sell crazy good on tool trucks and places like Amazon.

My issue is they'll live in the box. By the time I walk to the box and get the kit, I can stick my astro swivel on a extension. Plus side is sticking these into tight areas removes the annoyance of sockets getting pulled off.

Looks nice for some suspension work and drivetrain bolts. Problem with skipping sizes is when the aftermarket part for the honda uses 15/16/18, or whatever. I've never worked at a dealer so I don't know if one can truly ignore certain sizes.

Unfortunately as a manufacturer and not a retailer like some of our competitors who themselves are a seller on places like Amazon, making individuals available that way is a losing formula. If you're a seller, let's say you want to charge $10 a single tool, you type in $10. You see your fees an such, so you can see if it's worth it, but you set the price.

Just as a blank example, let's say we sell a tool for what SHOULD make someone decent/okay profit if they were to price it at $10, and it goes up for $25-30. If we price it like it should be $15, it still goes up for $25-30. We price it like it should be $20, and it goes up for $30. It might eventually go down, sometimes by a lot, but it requires being a commodity item. Like thousands and thousands a month to do so. And if you start out at $30 on a $10 tool, you're never going to move enough for it to get there.

This is due to seller fees whoever is getting our goods pay, and things like free shipping for everything not scaling well at the bottom I assume.

But when it comes to SETS, we price it like it should sell at $120 and it starts at like $130, then is $120 after a few sellers have it and compete, and maybe even a year removed is selling for $105 for reasons we don't even understand.

This is where we can do what we do to make things affordable for you guys. We wish we could sell single axle nut sockets like Capri, Tekton and others do well to, but as a strict manufacturer it's doesnt work out.

A 3/8" extension + a swivel socket is going to lose so much torque you might have more power turning it by hand. Though on smaller sizes might not matter.
