A set is fine for me as these days you never know what size you come across any more all sizes are in play now.

I already know what I’d use the hell out of those for- flange bolts on Hydraulic lines.

and thank you for 10-19 instead of 10-15 like so many others do. 16 and 18 are my most used sizes.

Testing / field testing has completed on the 3/8" pinless universal extensions and something users mention is that all these universal extensions for all brands, pinned, pinless seem to lose a TON of torque from the tool to the bolt.
My team is working on verifying that, and we're making 2 changes to the tooling design that go outside the normal ANSI dimensional ranges to mitigate a decent amount of that loss, which we'll do by verifying. So you'll get pinless 3/8" universal extensions that lose less torque than anything else out there, with no skips, for about the same price as these were already going to be (something like $120? $130 or so street price? Around there). Only downside is a little bit more of delay before they come out.
Really curious how much torque loss you can eliminate. At least 20% would be nothing to sneeze at on a nano v2 vs a typical 6 inch locking extension + swivel socket. Maybe this is something @Torque Test Channel can validate?

Think I might be with 2ndGear in that these impact extensions at first glance might be hard to justify on everyone's 90% tool cart. They stick up and more often than not and need to lie flat taking up valuable space (unless you can leave the cart open all the time). The better torque transfer though might be the key justification. Price point (TBD, but probably a bargain) and Astro support have all the other boxes checked. Heck I'll probably buy a set anyways.

I agree they won't be on the cart. The cart needs zero additional tools added, too full.

Removing a trans yesterday, the 17mm would have been a good size for bellhousing bolts, and the 14mm driveshaft bolts. I still like the 3' extension for some, but it's unwieldy and annoying. I think these will mostly be driveline tools. Astro will end up taking my money as usual.

Not so sure about that 2nd Gear. If they were driveline specific they would need to be 12 point.

Hey Astro, I posted in another thread but not sure if you saw it. Don't mean to nag.
I'm looking at buying into some of the Nano Impact Socket line but have a few questions.

The 3/8 drive sockets - 78319 are out of stock on Canadian Amazon and JBTools - any more stock coming down the pipeline?

94411M Hex and 94410T Torx don't have the outside 17mm for use with a wrench/ratchet handle; any chance of an updated set?

Do you have any more info on the long flex head ratchet handle shown at SEMA?

1) Makes sense, we're near -4,000 in stock. We make them as fast as we can, but looks like next inventory comes in to us mid next month.
2) Unfortunately not at this time, S2 tool steel sockets will remain without an outside hex.
3) 1st shipment is due in end of May/Beginning of June

Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for the 3/8 set and the Ratchet Handle. Too bad about the outside hex on the bit sets. I can think of one drain plug in particular which would seriously benefit from the clearance that would offer. Curious, do you have the rough total height of the 8mm bit?

Seeing as you didn't ask for unsolicited new product suggestions I'll just go ahead and make one anyway...
If the head of that new ratchet handle is thin enough it would be sweet to see a small add-on set with some square drive inserts (with no ball/ring) and extension for doing serpentine belts, diff plugs etc.

Astro already makes that, according to my dealer

I currently have 1442 and 1443 rivnut tools. I would like also be able to install 1/4 plus/cross nuts. Is there any difference in the tool that comes with the 1442 and 1450 kits? I'm just wondering if it is possible to just use the longer mandrels for the 1450 with what I currently have, or if I need to buy a whole new tool?

You just need the long mandrels. The "LM" part numbers you can order from us

I don't know if that makes it more or less likely for AP to make the square drive addons available... If I already had the 3/8 nano socket set, a crowfoot set and the ratchet handle then why would I want to buy that 220 USD Matco kit just for the square drives? Not to mention they have ball detents which is the annoying part of using a regular breaker bar...

Hello Astro! As a person who works on European cars full time, I’ve noticed a total lack of impact swivel sockets in e-torx. Closest thing I have found is snap-on’s swivel extensions for transmission bell housing bolts like https://shop.snapon.com/product/Ext...8-TORX-E12-Power-Flextension-Socket/PFSXE912B Nowhere can I find a set of swivel ball sockets, but a hundred different hex ones is no problem. Is there just not enough interest? It seems like an obvious product to me but there must be a reason no one is doing it, right?

@Astro_Pneumatic_Tools
What is your warranty process in Canada? Was just about to purchase a set of sockets off Amazon but some of the reviews have me concerned.
94410T 10-Piece 3/8" Drive Nano Impact Torx Bit Sockets
"T30 snapped within a year and unable to get through to warranty. It's left me without a crucial tool for work. I like Astro tools but the support is very disappointing and makes me regret not getting a Snap-on set for the lifetime warranty and support."

"Not make for impact. Bent and broke"

"AVOID! T30 broke on the 1st use on an impact (these are impact sockets) not on a ratchet. Tried contacting Amazon, and Astro tools directly - no response from either. Astro was talked up on youtube channels like South Main Auto, as being good quality at affordable prices. Well these are absolutely useless. T30 is the most common size for me, and this set couldn't hold up for one use. It wouldn't matter so much if there actually was a warranty standing behind it like advertised."

Are the bolts in kit# 7846 available separately?
Like for warranty?
I believe we replace them, but may not be selling them.

Just send us a picture, we'll ship it to you. No torx is invincible, it's a terrible design from a tool durability perspective.

Is there something better for internal wrenching tool durability in similar tool OD/torque capability? (Besides Torx Plus)
Female hex cap, Roberston. Most designs really. Of course there's other plusses and minuses, but Torx doesn't really rank #1 in anything IMO

@Astro_Pneumatic_Tools any idea on when I can purchase the Extra-Long Flex Head Nano Socket Ratchet Wrench #78318 here in the US?

Around 2-3 weeks likely

Torx was invented to speed assembly not to make mechanics lives easier. The fact that they can be driven without being exactly perpendicular to the screw/bolt is why they were adopted. In carpentry GRK screws with Torx are easier to drive because you don't have to be too perpendicular with driving angle so they install faster. Robertson is better but isn't as fast when you're driving hundreds of screws.

Agreed on the general torx sentiment. Was just hesitant about the warranty process, I've run across a few companies that have great US response and radio silence in Canada.

Still filling out my toolbox at work but I'm hoping to add 4 nano sets (3/8 drive, hex, torx & and eTorx) and the ratchet wrench to my lineup over the next few months. Been happy with the Astro tools I've bought so far!

I'm looking to buy a 1120 air ratchet, but can't seem to find one that ships to Canada. You guys have stock? Can you help me out?
