It includes a simple belt tension lever and protection guard to ensure safety for both the operator as well as protecting the tool. It is also constructed with a non-slip handle grip for user comfort, and a variable speed control making it great for many different applications, including spot weld removal. Just wanted to drop a line and says thanks, I won one of the ratcheting adjustable wrenches in the Suggest a Tool thread and it arrived yesterday. I've never used one before but it seems to be pretty dang good quality!

Most of my tools come from online. Most auto parts stores carry cheap tools at "full" price. Sears used to be a decent tool store but don't shop there much anymore. Harbor freight is about the only place local to get a lot of "specialty" tools. Since I can't get much local I usually order online and get a little better quality for cheaper.

The vast majority (80%+) of mine are internet purchases. I do usually swing through Sears a couple times a month, but it's usually to pick up a web order and if I buy something extra it's either a store markdown or I've got points to burn. I pass through HD and Lowe's pretty often and occasionally run across a tool or two that I must have, but rarely is my primary reason for going there to buy tools. I do like browsing paper catalogs and that has led to many purchases, but I find the tool in the catalog and then order online. Don't have any tool truck drivers, but I've bought a few things from Snap On's website. I'm not one for the flea market/garage sale crawl, ain't nobody got time for that! Only used tools I pick up I buy or trade from friends/other techs.

If AP has a print catalog or is considering offering one, I'd love to have one!

I usually get all of my tools off of the trucks at work. Sometimes I'll purchase off of eBay.

I get most of my tools online. I usually research several brands and then find the vendor with the best prices. from those I select the final vendor based on customer service, but usually won't pay more than a few dollars more per item if manufacturer support is good. SK's an example. I chose them over an Armstrong set that I actually liked better because Apex, the company that makes Armstrong, forces you to deal with the distributor where I can deal with SK directly. dealing with a distributor is not so bad except if you buy online most places don't want to handle warranty and send you local, and the local guys often turn you away because you didn't buy from them.

Maybe more than you wanted to know, but I thought a breakdown of the decision process might be helpful

It is extremely informative.

Thanks MrJaw!
Hope you are doing well!

I've had my eye on your hot stapler for a while now. Think I even have a thread or two on GJ about using a hot stapler to fix a bumper cover a family member damaged backing into another vehicle. Just haven't been able to justify the cost for something I will only use a few times. Someday when I win the lottery I'll pick one up!

Since we're talking about the 7600, the plastic dash/bezel on my old Toyota was cracking, which can happen to dashes due to the sunlight making it brittle over the years. Because it was cracking at one end, this lead to the whole bezel coming loose due to it not being rigid enough for the clips to secure it.
7600 fixed that right up. I find it works best if you heat up the staple 'till its red hot then push it into the plastic rather than heat it up when it sets on the plastic. That way all of the plastic around it is molten until you take your finger off (about 1 seconds after pushing into plastic) and let it cool enough to pull the gun off (about 3-5 seconds).
I was surprised by how cool the copper tongs were after use, I thought pushing another staple on soon after was going to be a sizzling experience, opposite.

My loose dash:

The main crack that's getting bigger all the time:

Hairline crack that would probably be next in opening up:

Snipped off the legs (you can also use a die grinder+sanding pad to sand these down is clearance if an issue):

Much better:

Comes with dikes that are nothing to write home about, but work (and a cheap phillips driver for pushing the staples in or around when hot):

I recently purchased from Tool Topia the CV Boot Installer Kit AST7831. It works perfectly with the Dorman Uni-fit boots I put on. Well made, quality product in what appears to be a niche market. I have my eye one some other items, too from your website.

Cool, an AP thread.

I purchased AP's 1427 Rivet-Nut kit about a year ago. It took me a few riv-nuts to get the hang of the tool (will strip riv-nuts) but it got the job done and the project has held up since. I kinda wish I had another use for it now.

Welcome back to the office, we hope everyone had a great weekend!

Looking for replacement parts that won't cost you as much as the entire tool itself?

Astro Pneumatic now provides popular cross-over parts that can be used on competitor's brands. These parts are for the same tools, and constructed with the same quality, but won't cost you an arm and a leg.

Best of all, you can purchase them directly.

I use my tools mostly for personal use. Working on my own vehicles to save a few bucks. Would rather spend the money on tools and fix it myself then pay someone else to do it, plus I just like to work on things. I also work on family and friends vehicles so maybe a little "professional" purposes. But I usually don't charge them. I tell them I need a new tool or something for the repair. So I guess you could say a little of each. But my thoughts were always if I can buy new tools and parts and do the repair myself for cheaper or even as much as a shop would charge I'd rather do that.
