40SLMAX, as suggested in another thread, is now being manufactured. Power to the people.

I will also be making a giveaway thread tomorrow based on a past request and interest in our new 1443A small hand rivet nut setter. I will also be likely choosing a few other new items to giveaway in the same thread.

Haha figures I just received my 40sl to replace my ATD saber.

Any chance you redesigned or changed the dial on the 40SLMAX? That's the only thing I don't like about the 40SL. Holding it in my right hand especially with gloves on I just gradually turn the light down and down and down while moving it until it is almost off and I have to spin it back up again over and over. The dial is so easy to move that just holding the light in my hand I turn it.

I'm looking forward to the tap and die sets and the new 40SLMAX as well.

We changed out my buddy's clutch last night ('06 Corolla) and he couldn't get over how nice the 40SL was. I have two and love them both.

Has Astro considered getting into the underhood light game? I've got a Nightstick that works pretty good, but the charger crapped out on me. I'm sure Astro would make a nicer product.

No opportunity to change the mold on the 40SL w/ the 40SLMAX, however take a look at the 30SL. Lasts longer on a charge and the dial is recessed - so you can't hit/bump it from the sides.

All aluminum body, 17ft charging cord, and a 250 lumen sidekick light that is incorporated in the underhood light but can be taken off with the push of a button. Coming out in about a month, however although it's under the Astro brand. Cornwell has pretty much spoken for all of them, so likely only find it on a Cornwell truck for some time.

Will the 150 SL charge using the same USB type charger as the 40SL? I hope so. I've yet to have a charging cable fall off of the light. There have been quite a few times where I've had to go and work on someones vehicle after nightfall. It's pretty convenient to be able to charge the light off of my phones USB charging plug. A++ on that one.

I'm pretty sure the markup from Cornwell will be substantial. I'll likely wait until the lights are available outside of the tool truck.

For your Rivet Nut setting guns, is there a way to buy just the mandrels? IE: get the metric mandrels and standard mandrels instead of buying (2) guns?

Yes, we sell all the mandrels separately. Some are popular enough to be sold by warehouses online, however we can sell all of them from customer service.

As far as compatibility. The only compatibility you're going to find is between the 1442 and 1452, however compatibility doesn't equate to ability to set. For instance a 1442 wont set a 12mm.

It's been called: The Town that Will not Die due to the fact that it's been plagued by many, many major floods over the years including a dam failure which killed hundreds. I purchased last week from my local industrial tool supplier the following: Astro Pneumatic (#7181XL) Flank Bite Metric Combo Wrench Set.

The positive: This a very cool wrench design. It has a damaged fastener removal pattern at the open and box ends.

Not expecting: Only a 1 year warranty on the wrench set covering damage based on normal use. Why wasn't at least a limited lifetime warranty included with this new offering from your company? Here are some pictures of the wrenches:

Hey Dave, thanks for bringing that to my attention.
These are absolutely limited lifetime warranty.

That orange card is packed with a lot of our tools and thus I think our guys just got carried away with this set and included it when it's not needed. If you own these wrenches, we will take care of you no matter what.

Do I need to fill out the white warranty registration card for my #7181XL combo wrench set to be eligible for the limited lifetime warranty?

In the future, if I damage a wrench, do I need to mail it in with a copy of the receipt? Is there an option (like some other tool companies) to take a picture of the damaged (or broken) wrench, e-mail it to you, and your company will mail me a new one?

I always tell people that's not required. We'll still honor a warranty even on a 1 year if you call in.

My HF ball joint press has served me faithfully for a dozen years but pressing out some u-joints today I noticed it's starting to **** the threaded rod and there's a lot of slop when not under load.

I just ordered the AP on Amazon for $59. I'm psyched, hope I like it.

Do you guys condone impact use on these? I use my 2763 which we all know is no slouch.

Yes, but pay attention to the semi-boloid oscillating yoke mechanism. If it gets caught up in the duractance-inducing ratchet, you'll live to regret it.

Upon closer inspection of my old HF (circa 2003) I found it had actually "sprung" into a "V" and then the threaded rod acted as a lever and kicked to the side also. Basically nothing lines up anymore.

ANYWAY for some reason I threw them both on my shipping scale & found the AP is 8 oz heavier than my old HF. That's good, more mass can only help rigidity!

Got my 1745 air-powered vacuum gun, this thing is awesome.


Used it to clean out my car, my buddies tool box in his truck bed, and an air box full of ****. Great suction, and not as horribly loud as I expected.
