I recently added a few Astro tools to my box and Im really impressed! Digital tire inflator, hose clamp pliers, pick/hook set.....Im waiting for Amazon to get the mini 3/8 impact ratchet back in stock.
Couple other updates.
40SLMAX, as suggested in another thread, is now being manufactured. Power to the people.
I will also be making a giveaway thread tomorrow based on a past request and interest in our new 1443A small hand rivet nut setter. I will also be likely choosing a few other new items to giveaway in the same thread.
Haha figures I just received my 40sl to replace my ATD saber.
Oh well maybe I will lose the 40sl as well and have a reason to buy another.

Any chance you redesigned or changed the dial on the 40SLMAX?
Has Astro considered getting into the underhood light game? I've got a Nightstick that works pretty good, but the charger crapped out on me. I'm sure Astro would make a nicer product.
First time mentioning it right here. Coming soon, 150SL - 1500 lumen underhood light. All aluminum body, 17ft charging cord, and a 250 lumen sidekick light that is incorporated in the underhood light but can be taken off with the push of a button. Coming out in about a month, however although it's under the Astro brand. Cornwell has pretty much spoken for all of them, so likely only find it on a Cornwell truck for some time.
For your Rivet Nut setting guns, is there a way to buy just the mandrels? IE: get the metric mandrels and standard mandrels instead of buying (2) guns?
Also, are your smaller mandrels compatible with the larger guns?
Yes, we sell all the mandrels separately. Some are popular enough to be sold by warehouses online, however we can sell all of them from customer service.
As far as compatibility. The only compatibility you're going to find is between the 1442 and 1452, however compatibility doesn't equate to ability to set. For instance a 1442 wont set a 12mm.
Hey Dave, thanks for bringing that to my attention.

These are absolutely limited lifetime warranty.
That orange card is packed with a lot of our tools and thus I think our guys just got carried away with this set and included it when it's not needed. If you own these wrenches, we will take care of you no matter what.
Do I need to fill out the white warranty registration card for my #7181XL combo wrench set to be eligible for the limited lifetime warranty?
You can PM me, email us, or even text our customer service an image of an unusable damaged tool and we'll replace it and ship inventoried items same day.In the future, if I damage a wrench, do I need to mail it in with a copy of the receipt? Is there an option (like some other tool companies) to take a picture of the damaged (or broken) wrench, e-mail it to you, and your company will mail me a new one?
Good to go. Thanks for the info Chris. The 150SL sounds impressive. Fwiw, the problem I'm having with my Bayco Nightstick is that the prongs on the charger are actually movable within the body of the charger. I don't know why it does that. I'm sure ya'll can make a better charger.
Will the 150 SL charge using the same USB type charger as the 40SL? I hope so. I've yet to have a charging cable fall off of the light. There have been quite a few times where I've had to go and work on someones vehicle after nightfall. It's pretty convenient to be able to charge the light off of my phones USB charging plug. A++ on that one.
I'm pretty sure the markup from Cornwell will be substantial. I'll likely wait until the lights are available outside of the tool truck.
My HF ball joint press has served me faithfully for a dozen years but pressing out some u-joints today I noticed it's starting to **** the threaded rod and there's a lot of slop when not under load.
I just ordered the AP on Amazon for $59. I'm psyched, hope I like it.
Do you guys condone impact use on these? I use my 2763 which we all know is no slouch.
Any update on these yet??
Is it possible to fit a 3-inch backing plate to a model 9901 Electric Dual Torque Polisher with Compact Handle?
Got my Astro ball joint press today.
Upon closer inspection of my old HF (circa 2003) I found it had actually "sprung" into a "V" and then the threaded rod acted as a lever and kicked to the side also. Basically nothing lines up anymore.
ANYWAY for some reason I threw them both on my shipping scale & found the AP is 8 oz heavier than my old HF. That's good, more mass can only help rigidity!
I love my ball joint press; it is a beast.
I am looking forward to the 150SL but I can't find one in stock anywhere.
And it's not just the mass. Starting in 2017, our new c-frame picked up only a couple oz. but the tensile strength increased near 40% by using a new forged alloy.
Is there a way to easily tell the new design vs the previous? Sounds like a fairly significant improvement.

It has some letters forged into it. Send Chris a PM and tell him the letters. I had the same question you did. I was pleased to find out I have the latest version.

Two questions:
1) Are the 1/2" low profile sockets widely available right now? I was looking at them on Amazon and they list as shipping in 1-2 months. I checked a few other online stores and didn't see any listed as in stock.
2) Have you guys been seeing your 1SL lights come back? I love the size and color of the light but it has an intermittent flickering problem. It hasn't lived a particularly hard life since March either.
1) They're still quite new on the market, so sometimes it can take a little bit for supply and prices to stabilize depending on who is shipping.
2) Not heard anything yet. I'll check when in the office in more detail. I'd be happy to have it looked at or replace it.
I'll keep an eye out for the sockets. Where would I send my light?
