I have an Astro digital inflator that is a year or so old. It needs a battery every 3 months even with infrequent use. Currently it shows dashes instead of a pressure reading. I paid over $100 when I got it as part of a large tool order. The response from your customer service was to send it in and they would look at it. I see you have since changed it to a version with AAA batteries instead of a button cell and the new one doesn't have to be disassembled to replace the batteries.

Try holding the button down for at least 8 seconds to reset the program.
If we do end up needing to take a look at it, I can make sure you get upgraded to the new AAA head unit, and a stainless braided hose with the bend-guard.

Just a note to Astro your participation, kindness, offerings of help to a Harvey flood victim have lead me to purchase several tools (through ebay and amazon (don't remember the companies name)). Your efforts kindness, willingness to stand behind your product, do the right thing and exceptional communication with us tool nuts has not gone unnoticed.

Do you all sell an impact swivel socket set?

That's why I bought the analog one. No batteries. And I can read it without my magnifying glasses.

If you can't read 1" tall numbers (which is what the digital model has) you need more than a magnifying glass you need a seeing eye dog.

I have the same issue with mine, which is why I've stopped using it. The button on the face indicates it (display and backlight) could be turned off, but I guess I need to hold it down for 8 seconds for that to happen?

Hey, I appreciate the kind words!
Unfortunately no, we do not make impact swivel sockets.

The display and backlight should turn off automatically by timing out. If yours is not doing so, we would be happy to repair or replace.

Guys feel free to shoot me a PM. I'm certain i can get this buttoned up in no time.

Just got the Fedex update. Big package from Astro is sitting in front of my house right now while I'm stuck at work... Watching the clock waiting to go home and play with it!

Received my 40SL last week and have been using it all week. Great light. Compact, slim, bright, and solidly made. Good quality. Only thing I would change is having a hook with a swivel on the end instead of the closed loop hook there now. Thanks again Chris and ASTRO TOOLS!

Hi Chris,do you have any sockets with a feature similar to flank inside the walls?
We have flank bite sockets for damaged fastener removal, and those are 7411, 7411M and 7404. But if you mean similar to a standard chrome sockets with flank dive, we do not I'm afraid.

Currently the capacity is 3/16". If and when we make larger sizes or a tool that we advertise works on larger sizes I'll post up here first.

Did it have the new rubber bend guard?

Yep. Ordered from amazon. The head that locks onto the valve stem doesn't "lock" the best and will leak air unless I hold it but overall I'm very impressed. Been wanting a tire inflator like this for many years and finally just pulled the trigger and not worry about justifying the price. 60 bucks for home use only is hard to justify but got sick of using a tire chuck and a separate gauge. Like how this one inflates, deflates, and reads all in one.

Trying giving the hose a half rotation clock-wise for the locking chuck to sort of thread snug onto the valve. If that doesn't work (which can sometimes be the case based on who made the valve stem or how proud the threads are) I'll send you a 6" dual check if you prefer that style.

Sounds good give that a try. Even with that I'm very happy with the inflator. Makes it so easy.

Also a couple thoughts about possible product ideas:

Seems to me if most ball joint presses just had another ~3/8" throat depth and larger receiver hole you could do Dana 60 front u-joints. As it is you can kinda sorta do 'em (I use a homebrew adapter for the cap to go into) but you're not pressing on center because of the shallow throat.

Also seems like the market is ripe for a clone of the BJP-1. I'd love one but even used they're damn expensive and I can't see myself paying $700+ off the truck.

I used my brand-new Astro-Pneumatic 3018 inflator for the first time today on my wife's Buick with one of the pickiest TPMS systems I have ever run across. It worked like a charm! Can't say enough about it other than compared to the old pump, bleed, check and repeat indefinitely protocol I have been used to, it's a real timesaver. For other owners out there, a tip: Mine came from the factory with two AA Alkaline batteries installed. The first thing I did was replace them with Energizer Lithium AA batteries. My garage is semi-heated, but the temperature can fall to freezing under extreme conditions and many an alkaline cell has leaked and ruined the unit it was in. I don't plan on taking the chance with this inflator.

The city of the broken bell.
Light showed up just a bit ago.

Damn, this thing is amazing! It's getting officially used tonight/tomorrow!
Eric O. made me buy one. Well, not directly, but subliminally.

Sending him that light was quite possibly the highest ROI advertising ever. :lol_hitti

Its pretty awesome.

Same here, and he's pushing me towards buying Big Nasty as well.

Chris, I'll get it packed and ready to send. Do I need a reference number, or anything?

Hi. I recently bout a 7859 cooling system pressure tester. And I like everything about it except for mabey the most important part.
I have trouble building pressure with the pump, I find that only a small portion of the stroke builds any pressure, and that there is a little bit of play between the pump "rod" and the hole it mates with in the cap, allowing side to side play the prevents proper sealing of the piston, while pumping. Is there any kind of break in required on the piston seal, or am I just doing it wrong😀

Not sure if this will help in your situation or not but if my stant sits for a while the leather cup can dry out and not make a good seal and not pump up like it should. You can put a few drops of oil in the little hole on the front of the unit and pump it back and forth and the cup will seal again. Not sure if the astro might be the same or not but might be worth a try.

Also should be able to unscrew the end caps and see what is going on inside.

Thanks for the advise, I tried a bit of silicone lube on the seal, after that ddint work I would it. Helped a bit, but not enough. Took 5min if pumping and couldn't get more then 10 psi had to borrow a stant tester from another tech.

I may have to call it lesson learned and buy a professional brand.

You may have gotten a bad one. PM the astro rep that posts in this thread and I'm sure they will make it right. Their customer service and warranty is really good. Also their tools are usually pretty good so I'm guessing you got a lemon which happens. Get in touch with them and I will bet they will make it right.

Just started a big re-wiring job on my 47 Plymouth and am using the Astro 9477 Professional Crimping tool:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0045CUMLQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Hands down this is the most versatile crimper I have ever owned and certainly the best value. This thing is built like a tank. This is now officially my go-to tool for wiring jobs.

Kudo to the folks at Astro Tool for putting out a great product!

New item #7856

A low cost (MSRP ~$45) cooling system tester that uses shop air to pressurize system then shut valve to leave for X amount of time and see if pressure drops. Then if leak is determined, open valve and use sustained pressure to find the leak.
Or open up the cooling system drain and add a few psi to the system to drain it quicker.

Works with nearly all testing taps.

Gauge displays common cap pressure limits. Regulator for dialing in the pressure you want, maxes @ 30psi to prevent damage.

We were one of the 1st companies to make an inspection light with a replaceable lithium cell. We continue to develop our own designs and manufacture new lights with replaceable batteries, however when you will see them under Astro depends on patent application timelines and other private brands we may make them for instead.

The 40SL specifically cannot work in its current configuration with a replaceable cell unfortunately.

so this will complement the 78585 set with out adapters needed Thanks

Correct

Automotive Drill and Tap set

This isn't exactly selling tomorrow, but today (last night) the tooling was being made. China being the twist drill capital of earth, making HSS drill bits in Taiwan not something everyone is set up to do.

Chris, Bringing this up from the past...
Is the " 7580 SAE Automotive Drill & Tap Set" one of the new sets?

Hi Chris,

I picked up the automotive tap and drill set. I am now thinking I would like the dies. Is there a way I could order those and the holders separately?
