Thanks, paul2112 I just ordered one. About $15.00 USPS (20) business days on slow boat to Hawaii vs $30.00 2 day UPS. I took the slow boat to (paradise) LOL to keep total cost down. Thanks Again :)

To anyone who owns these, how's the ratcheting mechanism? Smooth with lots of teeth, or no? Curious as to how well these will work in confined spaces where swinging movement is very small...

Thanks

They don't ratchet like a normal ratchet wrench, they just slip in the reverse direction to engage the next corner of the 12pt box end. So they'd have a 30 degree swing.

Not wild about a 12 point design for a flare nut. Would worry about stripping fuel lines or brake lines. Probably okay for working on water heaters or plumbing in the house, but not sure about automotive use with that 12 point. I think I'll stick with old school flare nut wrenches. The pics on Amazon look like the guy is working on some kind of water heater or furnace or something.

Damn, I'm so tempted to get them just because, but I can't see using them over a flare wrench. If you work with applications that require flare wrenches every day, then I could definitely see the value. Especially if you work on stuff that isn't rusted.

Well then are these being discontinued? If so, is there a planned replacement?
Awesome to see you here, Astro/Charles.

Just purchase as I think they may come in handy.
Also, had a coupon for $5.00 off.

Unfortunately, this item is on it's way out the door.
We do have a good amount in our inventory, but as of now a replacement has not been put in place.

Also, thanks for the welcome. Its my pleasure to be here! :rocker:

Just picked mine up from NT tonight. Haven't gotten a chance to put them to use yet, but after playing around with them they seem to be pretty nice. The split/slip design that allows them to ratchet is interesting, I'm anxious to see how well it works in real world use. I've been satisfied with my last few AP purchases though, and for $22 I don't think I'll be disappointed with these wrenches either.

Just a guess, but I used to see the Imperials long before AP was marketing these. Thus I'd suspect these were private labeled by AP and the Imperials will still be available, albeit at a much higher price. And of course GW has their own version of a ratcheting flare now.

I know it's a super old thread, but I have these (picked up a northern tool clearance sale similar to what was advertised), got the for around $30 if I recall, and they are really nice. I don't go to them all too often but for working in crowded engine bays on line nuts (brake, AC, steering, etc) it's come in handy, for sure. For some reason I could only ever find the metric set. If there ever was an SAE set I'd get one.
