They seem well constructed and it's a good price for a metal carry box...but I just can't buy a Chinese box with an American flag on it.

Plus, I have half a dozen vintage Craftsman carry boxes already, and I can often find them around this price if I really need more.

Meh, items or clothing covered in patriotic imagery are tacky no matter what the COO.
I don't know if tacky is the word I'd use? I don't have an issue with "patriotic imagery" per say (depending on what it is?) but basically wearing something made to look like the flag (or worse, actually made from a flag) does seem somewhat disrespectful to me. Having that item made overseas, particularly in some place like China... well let just say that's all sorts of wrong IMO.

Picked one up actually. A steal at $5 - a solid metal tool box. I personally like the patriotic imagery on it as well. The flag is just a sticker, and is not painted on, unfortunately.

I saw one at Target or some such place. I didn't think it felt solid at all - cheap construction that would fall apart with little real use. I can see the latch becoming misaligned quickly, the hinges coming loose and the handle loosening or breaking off.

That was just my impression of it. Stopped looking when I saw it was made in China.
