In some ways you rank fairly high on the scale, but you really don't have enough to fix a bicycle. I don't see a bottom bracket tool, chain whip, cassette remover, cone wrenches, crankarm puller, spoke wrench, or any of the other myriad of specialty bicycle tools!

What does in matter, you have throw away after you work on that giant **** spreader! Moat farmers I sell to like big 18, 24" cresent wrenchs. big wrenches, 3/4" drive stuff, also 3/4" drive torque wrench for big tractor lug nuts. As far as international tools, they are as scarse as hens teeth. You can find them at your local tractor shows but they are pricie. that is on bad looking tractor. i grow up up on a farm. John

I concur...15yrs of wrenching on bikes (the pedal version) and I think I have almost five full drawers of bike-related tools....but thats not really the point here...

You've got the basics...fill in as you need them to make life easier. Rome wasnt built in one day and your wallet wouldnt survive if you tried.

I'll give you a 3.5, give or take. You have a decent set of tools to start with and get most things done. You need to build from here. Make yourself a list of tools you want and buy them as they go on sale or you have the money. Also, now is the point where you buy tools as you need them.

It really depends what you work on. For some cars, you've got enough tools to do a lot of work, for other cars you have very little. There are a lot of more specialized tools you'll need for even what seems like "basic" suspension and drivetrain work, depending on what you're fixing.

You've got a good start, and it seems that you can get by fine with what you've got. Experience will help you determine what else you'll need, as you need it. You've got the basics covered, when you do more work you'll find what other tools you need, and what will make your work quicker and easier.

Tool needs and preferences are very individual, but in time they will become apparent. There's no solid list of what's needed, and when it's needed. :)

What is that ratchet with the craftsman professional handle? The red and black handled one in your first picture.

4.25. Looks like you could use more pullers, pliers, hammers, and maybe even some flarenut and off set wrenches. Some tap and dies would be good too.

Case IH,

You work on AG equipment, right? Sorry, I just skimmed the thread quickly and didn't see a description of the kind of stuff you work on.

I'm the guy who fixes whatever breaks on my families farm, I could take some pictures of my box and highlight what I think is most important if you'd like to see.

I give it about a 3.2, just to be different. If youre truly in farm country, visit a few farm auctions and buy more. I could recreate most of your box for the cost of a few of your wrench sets at auction. Personally I carry almost as many tools with me on road trips.

I would say 3 to 4, you have basic tools, I wouldn't update your impact unless your running into stuff that it won't take off. That CP will last you years and take off most stuff you will run into automotive wise. If you are working on heavy equipment you will need bigger. Like a lot of previous posters say, it depends on what you do. Pullers, specialty tools, etc, Make a list and buy them when you see a deal, if you wait until you need it to buy it you will pay too much.

Just my .02 worth.

Coach- Mmm, pie. Unless you're talking cow pie.

I agree with the general consensus. You have a good base, but if you're working on farm equipment, you're thin in the BIG stuff like 3/4 drive, unless I missed that. The thing with 3/4 is unless you go HF, you're better off keeping your eyes open for used at auctions and whatever other used sources you have near you. Brass drifts, bushing, seal, bearing drivers save time though I know how those tools are normally subbed for on a farm.

It's kinda hard to rate your collection because you don't have the right tools to fix bikes, but you've got enough to do most DIY auto repairs (that is until you run into a torx, or anything electrical). So I'll give you a 1/4. :)

Add a 1/4" extension spinner handle to your list. They are super handy.

Case Hi,from your pictures it looks like you have a fantastic collection of tools, most people starting out would be very envious...I am not a pro but as the others have said in todays cars it looks like you will need a ton of speciality tools along with more diagnostic equipment.

But let me say again you have a very nice collection of tools that many people would love to own good job!
