I believe the Athol Tool Company was purchased by Starrett Tools in the early 1900's. It should be a heck of a vice (particularly when compared to what you can buy today), and an antique as well.

Athol brand is definetely top shelf, on par with Columbian and Wilton, a major player in the day. Also commonly found in old machine shops.

I'll try to snap some pictures. It's got a weird mounting base, one like I've never seen before.

All I know is it's heavy as hell... tried to get it up into my F250 and damn near ripped off the skin on my finger tip when it got pinched between the handle bar and the center screw.
